Before I got pregnant, I used to be a smoker and gave up as soon as I found out I was pregnant. When I found out I'd had a MMC, the first thing I did was stop at the shop and buy some cigarettes and planned to smoke through to 1 Jan and then stop again (I didn't really have much trouble giving up before so I'm hoping it will be the same this time). Anyway, I smoked this morning at 9.45am and then I thought I probably shouldn't be smoking before my ERPC tomorrow as I'll have to go under general anasethic. Do you think I will be ok if I just lay off them today?

Babe....it's not just coz of the anaesthetic. Smoking will hinder the healing process too in the long run. Try and find some support to quit babe:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Sorry about your loss hun:hug:

I am sorry I don't know the answer, but didn't want to read and run

Sorry for your loss :hugs:
I was advised that it was ok before, but really generally a bad idea. Afterwards you really need to lay off for a few days, the pressure is too much for your lungs.

good luck, thinking of you.

Im the same as you. Stopped when found out was pg and then started again when mc..well, i needed a crutch and its christmas  Like you i intend to stop soon, too.

I did smoke before my ercp. It will be 2 weeks this tuesday. Of course, as already pointed out smoking is bad...but i never had any probs and the hospital knew i smoked and never said anything. Btw..ive had two ercp/c&d's this year and both went very well and i felt brand new after.

So sorry for your loss, big hugs for tomorrow and all the best in the new year, hun!

Take care,

Thank you. I feel a little bit nervous today and, needless to say, I've smoked more than I intended. I'm hoping I'll be ok. The doctor didn't tell me not to smoke before the op (albeit I hadn't told her I was smoking again), all she said was not to eat from midnight onwards the night before. I just wish it was this time tomorrow so my op will be over. Glad you was ok and it makes me feel better to know you smoked and was ok. I feel really guilty smoking today but because I'm nervous, I just feel I need to. Also, I had a full medical back in August when I was a full time smoker and she checked my lungs and heart and said they were absolutely fine. And my husband keeps telling me not to worry about it. He keeps saying that loads of ppl get rushed to A&E and put under anaesthetic when they've been smoking and drinking. Fingers crossed.
