Snapped nail help

I bent my nail all the way back on itself (ouch! ) and its kind of snapped halfway down my nail..Where it's still attached to my skin, and one side of it is kind of off the skin where it snapped but the rest is still attached iykwim (and seriously painful) and the bit that snapped is really sharp and keeps catching on everything. I can't cut it because it's too low down so what do I do?!

I'd file it down gently with an emery board, maybe a baby emery board so you don't hurt the skin. Then maybe put a plaster over it, as the skin will be tender?
