I am sure my midwife said we can eat nuts and it is safe to do so now. Is this right? Just thought about it.

I think the advice is that you can eat nuts as long as nut allergies do not run in your immediate family or the fathers immediate family. I've been enjoying a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes every day for about 3 weeks and bubs is fine. xxx

Yep, I didn't find out til I was bout 14th week which was v.annoyin cuz I'd been cravin them but yep tis fine..! :)

I was told that the current advice was that it was safe to do so as there is no evidence of eating them in pregnancy gave the baby an allergy, this is for peanuts by the way. They do say though that if you or the baby's fathers have serious allergies such as asthma or other food allergies to avoid them though. Nuts in general are very good for you and are encouraged...!

Yes you can now eat peanuts. I think the government chnaged this a while back as there is no clear evidence that this affects the baby developing a nut allergy. :)

hun its ok to eat nuts as long as they're not peanuts or so my MW told me last week x

Yes I am loving peanut butter on toast mmmmmmmmmm

Dont really get what you mean.... im being really thick! what are peanuts and what are nuts? i thought both same :blush::blush::blush:

Peanuts are the nut which people have the serious allergy to, not other nuts such as brazil, pecan, cashew etc... those nuts are full of essential fatty acids and are very good for you (in moderation)

not true.. the only advice now is that you should not eat peanuts if YOU are allergic to them (common sense really!).
the research that they once believed suggested a link between eating nuts/peanuts and the baby developing an allergy has been revised - and they have scrapped what they previously thought. they now don't believe it shows any correlation.
therefore nuts and peanuts needn't be avoided. (oh and for the record, peanuts are legumes) xx

I was told as long as I didn't have a nut allergy it was fine to eat nuts ... Nothing was mentioned to me about FOB ...!

It's fine to eat peanuts and other such nuts as long as you, your OH or any of your immediate family does not have nut allergies or asthma.

There are actually medical studies that have found a correlation between women who eat peanuts during pregnancy and a REDUCED chance of baby developing a nut allergy. I think I read about that on the BBC news site about a year ago.

ok brill, well you know what i fancy now dont ya.............. lol

yeah peanuts are fine, i presumed when people talked about eating nuts they meant peanuts lol. I've peanut butter on toast a couple of times :)

All I could eat for about 3 months was peanut butter on toast so it was a lifesaver!!!

Yes its fine to eat all nuts and peanuts, its funny in my first pregnancy with my son we where told not to eat nuts and now my son cant stand nuts or the smell of someone eating them

My second pregnancy with DD we where told its ok to eat nuts so I did,and Daughter loves nuts....wonder if their is any conection!!!!

I was told that I was allowed to eat nuts, inc peanuts, as long as there was no history of nut allergy in my immediate family.

There isn't - so I have been stuffing peanut butter sandwiches like no mans business :haha:

yeah I think there deffo will be!! I personally think it's worse to not eat somethin, think it's more likely to create an allergy/aversion to that food. If you keep eating it bubs is more likely to be immune to any possible allergies (provided u aren't already allergic obviously!)

im just eating some dry roasted peanuts now................ mmm mmm mmmmmmmmmm

Mmmmm - that reminds me there is a pack of salted peanuts in the cupboard I had forgotten about! Yumm off to stuff my face with them
