So confused, mixed signals.

I'm new to this site but have been ttc for a while now. I'm not up with all of the lingo but I need to share to see if anyone else has been through the same and what the outcome was. So I have always been irregular, going more than a month between cycles, sometimes multiple months. I hadn't had AF in a while but started getting crampy at the end of July and started a light period on the first that lasted about 5 days. My problem and confusion comes from the fact that I have continued cramping since and just over the last two days had some light brownish cm. I got a bfn today but am still crampy, gassy, and have been getting headaches. Just wondering if anyone has been through this with early pregnancy or if anyone has had this as symptoms of ovulation as I've heard that can happen too, although I've been testing for ovulation and have had negatives.
