so quite long sorry

so ive just had a little boy Alfie...he was in neonatal (special baby unit) for a week after birth due to infection ...so he was being fed those ready made aptimal in glass bottles.....he got used to having his milk at room temp....when we got home we carried on using ready made cartons of aptimaa which are expensive but we didnt mind and could just about afford it...the health visitor came the other day and suggested we try the powder because its cheaper but Alfie bloody hates waiting for his food hes a big boy 9lb 6oz....its really getting me down especially at night i mean it takes the biscuit waiting for the kettle to cool down for 30 mins whilst hes in a right state wondring why his dinners taking so long....my question is should we just go back to the ready made cartons?? i wish i never listened to that bloody woman i know she was only trying to help but the past 2 days have been a nightmard because of it..

sorry its so long ladies but i really need your help

thankyou in advance =)

Hi. I usually pre-make a few bottles at a time and keep them in the fridge. When my daughter is hungry all I have to do is take it out of the fridge and heat it up. We used to heat it up in a jug of boiling water, but now we just use the microwave. Take off the lid and the teat first and make sure you give it a good shake afterwards to make sure there are no hot spots. There is no way on earth my daughter would wait 30 minutes for her bottle, she screams bloody murder waiting for the microwave to beep as it is.

Congrats on your little boy. xx

PS - My midwife said it was fine to make the bottle like this by the way. As long as the powder is added to boiling water to kill the bacteria then it's ok to store them in the fridge for no more than 24 hours.

I premake too! and im naughty and use the microwave to heat them up! baby has bottle within a min of showing hungry signs  x

i would say premake your LOs bottles i do and then i warm them in a jug of water until they are only slightly warm cuz like your LO my LO was in the NNU for 5 days due to an infection and was fed the aptimil glass bottles for that time so is used to around room temp milk. also you may find it easier to stick with cartons at night as you can keep them in room temp unopened and just need to pour it into the bottle

I premade 8 in the first few weeks (he fed 2hourly day + night!) now i just make 6 up, with the fresh boiled water, store them in the fridge, LO cries - TA-DAH! feed ready in 2 mins (warm a bottle in a jug of hot water) xxx
