That's why I've had this itchy rash.
I've been prescribed hydrocortisone cream and epaderm cream.
It's so uncomfortable :(
Is there anyone who has it that has found a miracle to stop the itching? X

this is what ive got and i must say that i have not slept for nearly 3 weeks now, had about 1-3 hours a night and thats it. It has been horrible. Ive been given all sorts of creams, latest i was given steroid cream and antihystamine tablets. I went in to see consultant midwife today and she just said that she will just book me in for inducion to solve all my problems including the PUPPP.

Ive found hot showers worked to ease the rash also some shower gel from avon like that femine fresh one with chamomile and witchhazel in.

In my experience nothing eases it for long and there has been times where if i of had a gun id of shot myself lol

I've been putting a cold flannel on at night time which seems to ease it a little, it really is driving me crazy!
What about chamomile lotion?
My GP wouldn't give me antihystamine's as she thinks they make the baby drowzy.
I hate how the cure is "having the baby" feel so helpless and I've only really had it for 4 days :( x

Gah I'm so sorry you have this :( I have it too and it SUCKS!

Here's what works for me:

* Cold showers. I guess hot showers work for some people, but I find the heat makes them even more itchy.

* Lukewarm oatmeal baths at night. I got a box of Aveeno Oatmeal Baby Treatment...it's meant for babies with eczema, etc or kids with chicken pox. It helps a bit with the itching!

* Wear lose clothing in the heat. I found that burying my belly under clothes made it get too hot which made it itchy.

* Allergy pills/antihistamines to help you sleep. I only did this the first 2 nights because I really wasn't ok with taking pills to help me sleep while pregnant. I took something called Benadryl...just 1 about 30 minutes before bed...knocked me out :)

* Put your prescribed cream in the fridge! I leave mine in there and just take it out when I need it...the cold cream feels amazing!

*****This is the only thing that's been my real miracle worker: CALAMINE LOTION!!! I have a bottle with an added antihistamine in it and holy smokes has it ever helped. I started using this about 2 days after I got the prescribed cream from my doctor because I noticed the cream wasn't helping the itching at all, just the spreading of the rash. Since I started using both of them, my rash has pretty much gone away and it really only acts up when it's super hot out...and even then it barely even acts up at all! I put my prescribed cream on 2 times a day (once in the morning and once at night) and between then I use the calamine lotion maybe 2 times. For the first little while it was closer to 4 or 5 though.

Hopefully these tips help you! I've also heard amazing things about a soap called "Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap"...it's suppose to be another one of those miracle workers, but I couldn't find it here.

Feel better soon...and don't forget: DON'T itch!!!

:hugs:

Sorry - what is this? I've never heard of PUPPS before...

just take anti tabs just bite half and have the last half before bed

I'm so sorry to hear you have this! It really is a nightmare, I've had it for just over 2 weeks now and it spread over my entire body, even my hands and feet! The only place i don't itch is my face (Thank god!) But I've just been using calamine cream and E45 itchy relief ... it's defo helping but hasn't completely gone yet, the midwife said you can only get things to soothe it for a little while and the only cure is to have the baby :nope:
I really hope you find something to help you though and hope you get better soon! :flower:

This is my PUPPS (looking not so angry), it's crazy itchy. OH just bought me some calamine lotion and aloe vera stuff the pharmisist advised him on. Hopefully it'll help, if not I'm gonna have to push for an induction (not yet obviously) but the thought of potentially having over 10 weeks more of this if I go overdue drives me mad!

It's crazy how much it's spread and become more vicious just over the past 24 hours!

ive had this for the past 5 days, it must run in the family as my sister had it with all 3 of hers.
calamine lotion and talc have been easing the itching slightly, i must admit though i love a good scratch(hate how sore it is afterwards though:cry:)
im starting to get itchy behind the knees now!

My midwife has diagnosed me with PUPPPs even though i don't have a visable rash i'm very itchy. I'm taking 1000mg of Dandelion Root a day. Seems to be working wonders, my itching is minimal to nonexistant most days. On the days that i do itch, usually a topical cream will take care of it. I have a very close friend who also had PUPPPs while pregnant and she found relief using Dandelion Root and Flax Seed oil as well. Might be something to ask your providers about.

Good Luck!! Hope you all find something to relieve your itching, it can definately drive you mad!! :)

i've never heard of this either, what is it?

It's an unexplained itchy rash usually starting on bump. There's not alot that can be done for it other than creams to soothe it and it goes once LO is born. My doctor said the cure is "having the baby" so I'm hoping that he comes between full term and my DD.
Calamine lotion has worked wonders, seems to make my skin dried out though just don't want my 6 months of bio oil (hardwork and EXPENSIVE) to go to waste :(
Can't tell if I'm starting to get stretchies yet though for the rash x

oh, it sounds pretty terrible, sorry for all you ladies.
thanks for the info though x

went to the doctors today and she prescribed me antehistamines so hopefully they will work.
im seriously going up the wall with this itching, the rash is all over my arms and legs now!

So glad I'm not the only one, my OHs grandma really ticked me off when I showed her it and told her ( she's quite a young, active grandma) her response was "they're making up all these things now there was none of the fuss when I had my kids it's pathetic" ARGH
If only she had the itching for even 5 minutes!

i thought i was going to go through this pregnancy with no new stretch marks but two weeks ago they started and along with them PUPPPS-- AHHH!!!!! WHAT A MADDENING ITCH!!! I wanted to use my hair brush/nails and just RACK them across the bumps, but once you scratch the itch, it makes the itch like 50 MILLION times worse. The bigger part of rash is now healing THANK GOD!! now just the sides of my stomach and above my belly button have it.

I find NOT actually scratching helps.. i'll take a soft cloth and lightly rub it across the itch at almost a tickle and it helps me lol. ALL soaps even my "female" soap makes it BURN LIKE MAD CRAZY!! same with all lotions (including my stretch mark lotions). The only thing i have found that i can put on it is aquaphor. My doc said i could take bendrlyn or use the creme, but i always have this huge guilt trip about taking things when pregnant. Lose clothes for SURE-- i have those high on your belly maternity pants, i have to fold them ALL the way down or its super itch fest going on. Mine as they healing seem to go to a light scab like and then the itch really calms down.

Oh no! Big hugs. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

This was my PUPPP. It was horrendous and the rash was active for about 10-14 days before it SLIGHTLY eased off. I hated every minute of the day I was awake, and that was a lot because it was impossible to sleep!!

The only thing that helped me a little was calomine lotion and then blowing cool air on it. I had an electric fan next to my bed. :winkwink: Apparently pine tar soap works woonders but I never tried it. I also had antihistamine pills which I only took at night to help me sleep.

My GP gave me a cream called Diprobase which was a miracle cream for me. I still use it now eventhough mu PUPPP has now 90% cleared.

My thoughts are with you. :hugs:
