So, I was wondering why I was craving Marmite so much...

It is this yeasty black spread that has a weird taste and you either love it or hate it.

Hope you guys don't mind me crashing in here a few days earlier than 14 weeks. scared to look on the first tri forum now it is full of scarey stuff!
I now have rumbling tum and mouth is watering at the thought of marmite on toast, can't wait to get home and have some. Also love vegemite on toast but i think it will have to be a marmite day. What do you think my body was craving when i had to have mint jelly with my chicken kiev the other day? it tasted lovely but OH wasn't too sure and just found it funny!!

Ooooooooh my!!! I love Marmite!!!! Marmite on really buttery crumpets!! But seriously girls you REALLY need to try cheese and marmite toastie! It is the best!!! Yyyyyyuuuuuummmmmm! Xx

Tomorrow when i get paid im getting some crumpets!!! I love them but never thought of having marmite on them mmmmmmmm want marmite so bad i think i may have some for my tea.

I'm more of a Bovril girl if I was given the choice, but I'm definitely in the "love it!" camp when it comes to yeasty spreads like Marmite and Bovril. xx

I've never tried marmite but it just doesn't appeal to me hehe

what does it taste like?
Impossible to describe - but its definitely a love/hate thing. In on the love side. Never got on with Bovril and vegemite just doesnt cut it for me - Marmite all the way. Really do NOT like the squeezy bottles though.

Hurrah! Another egg/marmite person - have you tried it with soft poached eggs on marmite covered toast - you cut in and the egg yolk softens into the marmite and toast. DROOOOOOLLLLLL! I have occasionally allowed myself this  but with Red Lion eggs only so the risk of salmonella is practically nonexistant.

Mmmmm Marmite on hot buttered toast with a cup of tea - heaven

Does anyone else eat it out of the jar? And thats pre-pregnancy!

Its packed full of vits and good stuff too, although yes its a little salty

Mizze xx

From what I've heard, most women who crave marmite are pregnant with boys. I know when I was pregnant with my son I couldn't get enough of it and being pregnant this time round with a girl I haven't craved it so who know the theory could be true  lol

Yikes I hope not - will have to think of another name and take back all the pink things I have bought.

Yes! I think salty things are assoicated with boys - it maybe an old wives tale with a shred of truth in it somewhere? Certainly I could be having a boy :)

Gah. It's 23:38 and I want more Marmite! I went on their website earlier and decided that I want marmite-themed wall art and aprons and mugs and t-shirts!

As for it being made from beer waste products - I like to thing of it as beer being made from Marmite waste products :haha:

nomnomnom I carry my squirty one around with me, I got given a sausage roll at work so I cut it in half and put marmite on it :P

My mum makes 'cheese and marmite swirls' with leftover pastry, ooo yummy.

I HATE marmite but recently have kinda been wanting to try it on toast!

marmite relevaes morning sickness (IME) and it repels mosquitos... due to the B vits in it

SO good all round

YUMMMMMMMM :)

I'm an Aussie, so for me it has to be vegemite! Hmm on grainy toast! Yum!!!!! Some nights after dinner I splurge on a piece of vegemite toast or two!!

Wondering if vegemite is anything like marmite?

Vegemite for me too! Vegemite sandwich every day for lunch for weeks.
Mrs_park - if you grow up with vegemite you'd never switch to marmite (and vice versa). I work with people who ar British and love Marmite but it's just not the same!

I had marmite on toast for my dinner last night...its all i could think of since reading this thread lol!
