its really worrying me now, my periods have stopped again, and i dont even think im ovulating. im so scared if i can never have kids and i have to go throughout life without children :(((((((((((((

try not to worry, speak to your doctor and keep your chin up.

Hey missy... I don't think you should give up hope. Even if you're NOT ovulating, it doesn't mean you don't have eggs dwellin' up there in your ovaries... just hangin' out, waiting to be harvested. But seriously, even if, and I say IF it's not going to work out with you going at it the old fashioned way, there are sooooo many alternative plans you can seek. I have always been scared that I can't conceive, but to place myself in a peace of mind, I realize that it's not the end, and although it doesn't sound appealing, IVF, or fertility treatments are just a couple possibilities... You should just go see a specialist and see what they have to say, just don't give up hope, and don't think that just because it hasn't happened yet, it will never happen...

thank you both.

ive already had 3 rounds of clomid, 50,100&150mg and i didnt even ovulate on those. because im only 20, the doctors dont seem to take me seriously, but who are they to judge my lifestyle choices?!!
gyno has given me 6 months break from it- something which i didnt want, they just seem to fob me off all the time with excuse after excuse :(

If clomid doesn't work try Femara. If I am not mistaken it usually work in cases where clomid doesn't.

AJ have you thought about looking into alternative therapies? Reflexology and accupuncture are suppossed to help stimulate our ovaries, and now might be a good time to explore them. Did your dr think you might have PCOS? If s/he does, then see if you can be referred to a nutrionist or a dietician. Improving your diet (and maybe losing a bit of weight if you need to) can help alleviate PCOS, and improve your fertility. Even if you don't have PCOS it still would still be a good idea, as it will help you be in tip top condition. 6 months is an ideal period to make changes to your lifestyle (cutting smoking , cutting back on alcohol, caffeine, regular exercise etc.) which will really help to regulate yourself.

A friend of mine whose periods went awol for 6 months was told to take mother & baby vitamin supplements by her GP has the levels were much higher than other supplements, and he thought it would jump start her system. Her son is now 3mths old. Also I'm assuming since you are on Clomid they've checked your thyroid and liver function for other possible reasons for your missing periods? If not see if you can get these tested. Best of luck to you. Nx

i havent had any liver or thyriod tests, but my dad passed away from liver disease so im dfo getting myself down the doctors.
i do have PCOS, and my oh has a low sperm count, which the doctor called a 'disaster'. honestly they treat me so badly, but i just take it and dont say anything :/ i suppose i feel they know what there on about more than me.
im going to look into acupuncher and reflexology now, is acupuncher something i can do through my doctors? x

Sorry to hear this is all so stressful for you.

It sounds to me like you could do with a new doctor! Have you tried looking for a new one? And be pushy, it's your life and you're entitled to getting the care and attention you want. Have you been referred to a fertility specialist or are you still with a GP?

Sorry I can't help more but I just wanted to offer a bit of support.

Is DH taking any zinc or anything to help boost his little guys too?

By the way, a trick I learned when dealing with doctors is to take a list of questions with you, that way you don’t get flustered and feel like you can’t have your say.

definately worth getting OH supplements too if you havent already. If you are into alternative things then the moonstone thread might be worth a look? have you tried soy? hugs to u x

A 'disaster' isn't a helpful bit of advice! Sounds like your dr might need some help improving their bedside manner! I agree with Flutterbabies. Definitely get him some vitamins especially for conceiving. Sperm levels can improve with zinc, a better diet and by quitting smoking in a reasonable short space of time. Another test in 3 months could show definite improvement with a few changes.

Acupuncture can be done via the NHS - but atm its only recommended for back pain. I'd guess that some health trusts have different guidelines, so its worth asking: https://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Acupuncture/Pages/Introduction.aspx

My OH got acupuncture done privately at a sports injury clinic and I think the price is somewhere between 25 - 60 a session. Not cheap - but if either of you smoked and managed to give up then you'd pretty much cover the price with waht you've saved on cigarettes! https://www.acupuncture.org.uk/index.php - Have a look on this site and see if you can make some enquiries.

As for the thyroid levels, I'm pretty shocked you haven't been tested for that as that is a very common reason for missing periods. I've only missed one period and my Dr is having me tested for a whole heap of things tomorrow. IMO - I would book yourself an appointment with another GP at your doctors and get a second opinion. I get the feeling that they've labelled you as PCOS and are reluctant to look at other possible explanations or solutions. Also with PCOS you may be entitled to see a dietician / nutritionist on the NHS, so push for that. If it's free I'd take it! :)

Good luck. x

If clomid doesn't work try Femara. If I am not mistaken it usually work in cases where clomid doesn't.

can you get femara from the chemist, or does it have to be perscribed? x

It does need to be prescribed like clomid, but since they already put you on clomid I do not see why they would'nt let you try femara.

Have you had your thyroid checked..? Just a thought, it's important and often overlooked IMO. :hugs:

You sound like a good case for IVF with ICSI - the good thing about it is if you do it now the eggs they collect will be good quality (age of the eggs is dependant on what age you are when they are harvested) and if you get more than 2 you can freeze some for later on too.

Have you seen a fertility specialist yet?

Also definately get oh some conception vitamins and give up smoking and drinking (drinking can be just as harmful as smoking for sperm!) then get his sperm tested again - if it improves you may be able to have ovulation induction IUI.

he isnt taking anything at the moment, i havent really been told about supliments to take etc, they really dont give a shit! were with the gyno, but i have an appt every 4-6 months, i dont think that is good enough, alot of things change in 4-6 months!! xx

thank you for all your help, im going to book an appointment at my docs, and take a list of everything youve all said. i am worried about the tests, because liver disease does run in my family xxx

Good luck AJ. Fingers crossed you can get a blood test booked in for this week / early next week. Try not to worry too much about the results. If they pick up that there is a problem with your liver, then its extremely likely (as it sounds like you haven't had any other symptoms) that anything picked up would be very, very early stages. I also still think that the chance of there being a problem with your liver is very unlikely. Keep us posted. xx

im booked in at the docs 3pm monday, im taking oh cus hes the one that pushes things!XX
