I'm continuously having false labor starts. From what I've read, during false labor (or prelabor) contractions should be irregular but mine have all been regular. Every 5 minutes lasting 1 minute, they're painful and it hurts my lower back. I can't get rid of them, and it usually lasts a LONG time but never progresses.

Today I've had contractions for over 5 hours now. :nope: Two nights ago I had regular contractions for 6 hours, and sometimes it lasts longer. It's only been the last week or two that it's been really bad.

I'm going out of my mind. Is anyone else experiencing this? I hear it's more common with second babies but seriously!! I just want to go about my normal life without thinking I'm in labor every day. :dohh:

I had it really bad with my 2nd, and again, but not so bad with this one. My midwife called it prodromal labour and said it probably was happening in order to get the baby into a good position for birth, so not to think of it as false labour, because it is actually doing something. It didn't help with my 2nd though because she was still face up when she was born, so I don't think the 4 weeks of contractions did much to help her position lol.

Anyway, :hugs:

I'm sorry you have to deal with this :(

Ugh!! That makes sense though because I'm pretty sure he's in a bad position - head down, just positioned in a funny way. Thank you. :hugs: I hope he decides to come soon so I can get some relief from this, it's definitely miserable. Good to know I'm not alone though, I feel like I'm becoming a crazy person.

Ugh. This is me too! And I HAVE to pay attention because the hospital is an hour and half away and second labours are supposed to go faster. I've heard enough horror stories from my friends of barely making it to the hospital with their later children. And since this is going to be a VBAC there are more risks of things going wrong. No side-of-the-road deliveries, please!

Though I have noticed that a lot of my "false labour" ends with a BM and then all the contractions/cramps stop. I did get 'real' false labour over the weekend though. That was super frustrating. It lasted hours and was so painful. I even got the nesting syndrome right before!! Also got pre-labour signs the day before. :dohh: Haven't had anything since.

Ugh so frustrating. I hope you get to the hospital in time!! That's something I'm worried about too, we're so used to fake labor contractions - what if we don't pay attention when it's real?! :haha: My hospital is only 20-30 min away though so not nearly as much pressure.

I'm still having contractions 6 1/2 hours later but they're now irregular. :growlmad:

I have been having false labor for a week now... my contractions are all regular as well and usually start about 10 minutes apart and quickly progress to 1-2 minutes apart and STRONG. They usually die down after about 2 hours, but they happen multiple times per day. I got checked at my doctor today and am still only dilated to a 1. I was so frustrated I almost cried. :(

I find the false labour is actually making the wait for my due date harder. I know she's not due until the end of the month so it's not bad for either of us if she waits but the false labour gets me all keyed up for nothing. One, I'm super excited for her to come and want her to come NOW and two, labour is painful and some anxiety is to be expected. So getting that mix of excitement and anxiety to only be let down is really hard on the nerves (and I'm not good at dealing with nerves on a good day).

I've been in prodromal labor all week, but we are trying to keep her in a few more weeks.. I've been having contractions anywhere from 3-7 minutes for a week now and it's no fun at all... especially knowing I could have another 3-4 weeks of this!!! It makes me nauseous, I constantly have period pains and back pains.. baby girl is head down and anterior so she's in the right position, occasionally she will roll onto one of my sides but she usually straightens back up! I'm also having so much pain in my cervix and pelvis.. it's quite unpleasant!!! And every movement brings on another contraction.. I take warm baths every night to relax me, doesn't sooth the contractions but helps with the pains, so now I'm just waiting!!!

I've had this for the last three nights, the pain starts in my back and wraps around me, just like labour with DS. It keeps panicking me as my toddler is really poorly with a horrible virus and ear infection. Now would really not be a good time to give birth!

I hear you XXX I have been have it too for the past 3 weeks. Last night I really thought this was it but no all has stopped again.
It does make sense about getting baby in good position. As of last week mine is head down but facing my left hip. I'm 4 days over and really want her here now X

I too having been having this for 4 days now only seems to occur in the evening, night when im most relaxed,my mw said that its latent labour and it will be doing something i.e softening the cervix etc i know this is probably true asbove had this in some of my previous labours and once i go it tends to go quick and i tend to go from 3cm to baby within 3-4 hours but its still no fun waiting and im getting depressed with it all as i get the nerves and excitement too then it all stops i just want to get on with this now and meet my baby i don't know how much more i can take im keeping my fxd for all of us that are going through this.xx
