I know it is going to sound absurd as I have 3 other children but I have a BIG age gap and can't remember my others being like this.

My LO is 4 weeks old and just recently started draining his 3oz bottles so I upped them to 4oz but he doesn't always drink the whole bottle leaving up to an oz in the bottom. If I try and get him to finish the last oz he will either spit it out the side of his mouth or (worryingly) throw it up :nope:

Do I persist in trying to get him to drink it as I'm worried he's not getting enough although he is (most of the time) very calm and sleeps through the night (from 11pm to about 5/6am).

The other problem we have is that he doesn't always bring up his wind - it can sometimes take an hour to feed and wind him and even then we don't get it all. I have tried infacol but that made him violently sick so we're trying manual winding but at the night feeds we have awful "fights" - he arches his back, cries and even if we do get some wind he'll do this mad open mouth search and then not drink

Has anyone else had this problem and what do you do to help the situation????????

I wouldn't worry about trying to get him to take that last ounce. He'll eat what he needs, & it sounds like he's doing fine :) Maybe make the bottles to 4oz if he's draining 3oz, but don't think he has to finish them!

When Bella was younger, we had to wind her after each ounce in order to bring it up, otherwise she'd bring up a lot of milk at the end of her feed. She's definitely a lot less windy now :) I'd say we did that for the first 3 months or so.

If your lo suffers a lot from wind, it might be worth looking at giving him comfort milk?

xx
