Hi Ladies

We've been trying for a baby now since Oct 2008. I conceived within the first month in Oct 2008 asfter my first ever pos opk but sadly miscarried before 12 weeks. We then had a break from ttc and then started trying again in Mar 2010, and conceived again in the June using opk again. I then miscarried before 12 weeks again (no heartbeat at 12wk scan). The suregon and doctor said to try and wait one year before trying again so we did. I went on the pill for the first time in my life and then came off it in July this year. Weve been trying ever seen and nothing. The strange thing is, it seems im only ovulating once every other month? Is this possible? Well im only getting pos opk once every other month, yet i still get my period every month, all be it not regular they vary from 24-29 days. Im now convinced somethings not totally right with my insides. Weve bd'd every other day for months and always time it right when we do get an opk. Ive startd temping this month for the first time to see if that helps. Im now 31 and starting to really panic that time is ticking and 3 years has passed in an instance - yet still no baby. Id like to go and visit the doctor but im sure they will just send me away and tell me to diet before they spend any time on me as my BMI is 35. So thats really not an option, im going to lose the weight ive started eating healthy and have lost 7lb in the last 2 weeks so thats a start and im determined to do it. But weight loss is a longterm thing i know and i dont expect miracles over night but still everyday im worried about why i arent conceiving again and why i seem to be only ovulating once a month. Would i still have aperiod every other month if i havent ovulated ? I read about tubes being blocked and wonder if thats possible now?

hi LouLou.
I'm sorry about your losses.

I think the BMI could be an issue with the doctors if I'm being truthful. having said that, if you have conceived before (and were at a similar weight), then there I can't think of a reason why you cant' now?

If I were you, I would definately go to the doctor. I would want to know why i miscarried twice? I have heard that sometimes people miscarry due to low progesterone, and that they then take medicines for the first 12 weeks in order to help prevent a miscarriage. But I have no personal experience of this, so please do not quote me on it. I just vaguely remember reading something about it.

Also, if you are getting regular periods, then I'd say it's fairly certain you are ovulating. Maybe you are just doing the opk's at the wrong time as LH surges can be short.

Good Luck.

Hi thanks for your response, I think your right about the bmi maybe try to get it under 30 to help so doctors can see I'm trying, but yeah I was the same bmi the last 2 times I conceived so its strrange. The second time I miscarried I asked the dr to investigate but he said it wasn't standard procedure to start testing until after a 3rd consecutive loss.

After 3 is standard? Wow, I thought it was 2! So sorry for your losses. I think aiming for a bmi of 30 is a good goal but I don't think you shod wait to get there before going to see a doctor. Plus I don't know who you were seeing before but I would suggest seeing a different doctor, one that will take you more seriously. I also think the new doctor should be a specialist and not an ob/gyn.

My doctor told me that it is possible to get a period every month even if you are not ovulating, but you will be able to confirm that fact with temping. And in my personal opinion if your cycle is 24-29 days then you probably are ovulating. Cause anovulatory cycles tend to be much longer, like 40 days.

Tubes being blocked or changes in anatomy due to adhesion are always possible and you could find that out by having a HSG, and/or a more invasive procedure called a laparoscopy.

Thanks, your really positive about getting things sorted! Makes me feel I can do something about my situation rather than fretting, I'm gonna call the dr's first thing tommorow

Yay! I'm excited for you. Yeah I'm a firm believer and advocate that each person should be in charge of their own health and that doctors are just people and not necessarily any smarter. I actually fired my 1st RE cause I thought he wasn't the brightest and was just following a flow chart. Keep us posted.

I feel so bad for ur miscarriages darling.
I miscarried when I was 5 months pregnant.....I still cry over it and wonder.....
But don 't worry....u r not getting old. Nowadays women have kids at age 40. I am now 34 and pregnant (13 weeks). I am terrified that I may miscarry again. I know that is not the right way to think, but......can't help it!
Anyways, after my miscarriage, it took me exactly a year to be able to conceive again, Do u know when it happened for me? When i stopped obsessing over it. TRUST ME!
Another thing is that I have struggled with my weight ever since I was born, I have tried over 20 different diet pills, every single diet that ever excists out there, I have tried and let me tell u that it does not work....swear to GOD!
But there was this one diet that did work Atkins. I swear by it and i guarantee that it will help u shed weight if u need to. However, I don't see the importance of weight loss for conceiving, but I am not a doctor. I think one should just eat healthy and not do drugs. Pls feel better and remember that I am here for u!

Thanks for your input I realy appreciate it, il keep you posted how i get on

well told you i would keep you updated! Guess what? Im nearly 20 weeks pregnant, which means my first post on this thread was around about when i concieved. I cant beleive it. Miracles do happen. Still really nervous something is going to go wrong though absolutley dreading my 20 week scan, but trying to think positively. How is everyone else getting on?

What fantastic news! That's amazing! 20 weeks is pretty far along. I know u've had miscarriages in the past but do you have a reason to be worried at this point? Try to enjoy the experience as much as possible and worry about stuff when stuff actually comes up.

AFM: I'm still trying. I did 3 rounds of clomid, all bfn. Now I'm on my 2nd round of Follistim injections and in the 2ww.

Thanks for the update and I hope you have a very happy and healthy 9 months

Hi, i dont have any particular reason to be worried, I just feel after 4 years trying and having 2 losses in those 4 years that this pregnancy is almost too good to be true. I always felt like i was just gonna be one of those women who never had a baby it always happened to someone else and not me, so im fretting now that if ilet myself be happy finally nature will be cruel and snatch this gift away from me, crazy i know but as you can appreciate you spend so long wanting and wishing dont you? Just taking one day at a time and being thankful thats all i can do. So your in the 2WW? Any signs/symptoms yet? Are you symptom spotting or trying to put it to the back of your mind? Is follistim for regulation of ovulation?

Oh, I know. Whenever I get my BFP, I'm sure I'll be super paranoid as well. So, your BFP was natural right?

The follistim injections are FSH injections, so they get the follies to grow and mature properly. No S&S yet but I'm only 4 dpIUI/O. But after the first round of the injections I learned that I can't trust my what my body is telling me in the 2ww when I'm doing injections. At times I could feel pressure in my uterus and twinges. A few days before O I expect those things but not a week or so before. Anywho, just trying to distract myself during this 2ww.

hi

yeah i conceived naturally, strange really because i'd been fretting all this time and posted this thread and then thought right its december festive season im going to put the baby idea aside until next year now and enjoy all the xmas parties have a drink let my hair down forget it and boom pregnant! They always say when your least expecting it dont they? How long you got to wait now in you 2ww?

I have about 6 more days until the official beta test on 4/16. I know I'll test before then, I'm just trying to make it as far into the 2ww as possible cause I wouldn't want to get a neg that's not real.

So how did you realize you were pg? Late AF? Symptoms? How many DPO did you get your BFP?

i went to my works xmas party and started to sip a glass of wine and nearly gagged! Which isnt like me! And i really struggled to drink all night nothing was tasting nice, then the next day i went to my cousins wedding and again none of the drinks were tasting nice and i couldnt keep my eyes open - i had to go and lay down in the hotel room in the afternoon for a couple of hours to get some rest. Those were the only symptoms, so AF wasnt due for three more days and as i wasnt symptom spotting i wasnt thinking to test, then the morning AF was due to arrive i got up went to the bathroom and nothing! so i went to my wardrobe pulled out a test and did it and it came up with the 2 blue lines instantly as soon as my pee had literally saturated the stick! Most amazing thing ever because it was so unexpected. Usually other months im symptom spotting and doing a couple of tests a day leading up to the AF day always being negative of course! Then i thought id be over the moon but all ive done is worry myself sick with nerves and what ifs since just want the next 4 months to fly by. So how long have you been trying altogether? This month April is exactly 4 years now for me. Just unfortunate to have one chemical and one mmc in those 4 years. Everyone always used to say - at least you know you can concieve! Buts it no better as whats the point in conceiving when you lose them..im just praying now this is my time and this one sticks.

We were trying 2 years in November, so I guess this makes 2.5 years now. Thankfully, I haven't had a miscarriage, but I think I may of had on chemical. The doctor passed it off as nothing, a fluke, but I think it was a chemical. It was the first round of clomid we were on 5 months ago. The beta test came up as a slight positive. I don't know what units they are but the test isn't suppose to pick it up until it gets to 5, and it was a 2. I think something tried to implant and wasn't successful. But since it was never anything, I was never really upset about it.

I would never say that you are out of the woods, but at around 20 weeks, I would say that the odds are in your favor. So 20 weeks, do you know the gender yet?

no my scan isnt for another 2 weeks yet when im 20 weeks but im not going to find out the gender i like the idea of not knowing until he/she is born! My mum and dad took 6 years to conceive me you know im an only child and they tried and tried had every test done nothing was found to be wrong, then just one month it happened and my mum was pregnant with me and then it never happened again they tried for about another 5 years after i was born. Its so strange isnt it the way that some people have to wait and wait to have a sucesseful pregnancy and some people get pregnant at the snap of a finger.
Do you drink grapefruit juice? I swore by it to ovulate.
