ok so i bought a moses basket from a friend but then had to throw it out coz after i stripped it to wash the sheets and things i found out it was mouldy.... im undecided as to wether to buy a new one.......

so i suppose my question to you lovely ladies issssss what are you using for baby to sleep in in your living room... i have a crib upstairs so it really is just for downstairs.... i really dont know what to do so some ideas would be great x x

I was umming and ahhing about having somewhere for baby to sleep downstairs, I have a moses basket for our room and didnt like the idea of lugging it downstairs everyday, but I also dont want baby sleeping upstairs while I'm downstairs. In the end I decided on a travel cot which doubles as a play pen, I think it will come in quite handy not only at home but if we go anywhere for the day or overnight, it folds up really easily and is light. My hubbies parents live over an hour away so after christmas we'll spend the day there so will take it with us.

Personally I think you will need something for downstairs as you wont want to leave your newborn upstairs if you are going to be in the living room most of the day.

I was figuring that I would be able to use the seat bit of my pushchair which converts to a carrycot type thing if I needed something for baby to sleep in and didn't have the moses basket etc. Its not a proper carrycot but it looks like it would be ok I think!

I'll just be using the pram, the carry cot comes off xxx

We dont have a Moses basket for downstairs and we never have done. We've always used something similar to one of these:

It's perfect as it lays completely flat and the baby grows with it as it's also a bouncer. Xxxx

We are going to use the pram carry cot or the bouncer, which lies back so its pretty much flat. :) x

Thats what we have, we are borrowing my nephews, would have bought it brand new if we couldn't lend it. Its a great bouncer!

We have a crib for upstairs & a moses basket and rocker for downstairs x

We're going to use the pram for naps downstairs as we'll have to leave the pram up all the time in our livingroom anyways, but i bought a cheap moses basket for upstairs during the night.

You bought it from a friend? I'd ask for my money back.... friends shouldnt charge anyway if they dont want it anymore

We live in a flat so it makes no difference to me but I bought a moses basket anyway cause we only have a big cot so i wanted something smaller for when hes tiny x

I think baby will most likely sleep in the baby bouncer thingy ... Haven't actually got one yet, but someone is giving me one. Everyone I know who has moses baskets have lent them to other people who are having babies before me and I don't really want to buy one!

Yeah it's one of the best things I've bought for my babies. I've used the same one that I bought for my eldest- it's lasted over 2 years and it's like it's brand new. Washes really well too! Xx

We are just going to use the carrycot off our pram. We would buy a cheap moses basket, but I cant justify spending £35+ on something we dont really reeaally need.

We are getting one of these too. We had one with my last son two years ago, but lmy eldest jumped on it and broke it! So we are getting another one. They are excellent and WELL worth the money.

Do you have a pram with a removable carrycot? If so it's just as practical to use that instead of a moses basket.

I have a moses basket and cot. A lovely lady at my local mothercare advised that I put my bundle of joy in his moses basket for peace of mind but to put that in his cot to get him used to sleeping in that environment.

its the most essential thing i ever had baby wise with my last and this time too ill make sure i have a new one

we've been really lucky and have been given 2 moses baskets so ill have one both up and downstairs. however before i knew we would have the 2 i planned to use the carrycot part of our pushchair :) xx

I was going to just put baby in the pram while he was in the living room then i went into earlylabour, freaked out and went and bought a moses basket and stand lol xxx

I have a bassinet for downstairs, which I rarely used and wish I hadn't bought. I also bought a moses basket but didn't use it once. Now though when Kenny takes naps downstairs, I put him on a changing mat on the floor. He loves it, it's so comfy to him! :flower:
