I'm really beginning to wonder about my cycles...

I'm not sure what to class as cd1 each month.

I always have 3 days of spotting and 3 days of true bleeding. Always.

I seem to ovulate around cd16 (from true bleeding)

But then at 10 dpo i start to spot again.

I'm trying soy this month to see if i can bring ovulation forward, even just by a day.

Anyone else similiar to this? I've only had this type of cycle since having my son. Before i had a 14 day lp.

x

Hi there,

I spot anywhere from 5-7 days before my period. I count CD1 as the day of heavy bleeding. I too only started spotting after my son 4 years ago. There's a group of us "spotters" on the TTC Groups and Discussions board if you're interested. We're all at different stages of getting tested or TTC.

Oh thank you Island girl... for replying to me and for pointing me in the direction of the group.

I'll go and have a look.. x

You are meant to count CD1 as day of full red flow. Bleeding at CD10 might be ovulation spotting, some ladies have it although you say that you OV later so thats a bit strange but not unheard of x

That's true - day 1 of red flow is your CD1, regardless of how many days prior to that you experience any signs of spotting.

Soy won't make your LP longer, it may even mess your cycles up if you are regular. you need to take supplements like Vitamin b6+b12 and progesterone cream (since your spotting with a short LP, usually happens when you have low progesterone) xx

I wouldn't take anything without a checkup with the doctor. It's easy to run a progesterone blood test, for instance.

Yesss OP, I'd definitely get one done to make sure it's okay! xx

Thank you for all of the replies. x

Even with my history my doctor won't take any bloods until i hit the two year mark (which is in 3 months) and he just wants to refer me which will be a waiting list of 3 months.. I'll be lucky to be seen before six months from now.

At this stage in the game, 21 cycles, especially after being natural for all of that time i'm prepared to give these things a go. For my psychological well being.

I have been taking multi vitamins, focusing on b-vits for a few months. Mainly in an attempt to avoid some of the nasty viruses about of late! To no evail.

I wouldn't want to use a progesterone based cream unless i knew for sure i had a prgesterone issue.

Which left me with the option of soy. I've heard it can cause issues just like any alternative remedy to fertility issues. I've heard the same for agnus castus for example. I just figured it's one month, i've already gone through 21, so it wouldn't hurt if it did hamper me for one month. I would never know with all the research in the world (it's so conflicting!) unless i gave it a go.

I'll let you know how it goes. I'm cd6, so only have today and tomorrow left. If all it did was changed o by one day i would feel content. If it all goes pear shaped then i know for sure soy isn't for me! I don't know where i'd go from there?

So far, no side effects or atypical symptoms.

I just wish i didn't spot before my period from 10 dpo... :dohh:

You can't go to your GP and get them checked? I believe some can do it, it won't hurt asking. There could be a chance you ovulate earlier than you think? Are you charting and using opks? xx

Hello,

Yes i've asked...repeatedly...three different doctors. I am bemused as to why they won't, especially given my stage four endo..but they are very strict in my pct and having children comes pretty low on there spending priorities. Plus, i think it's important to follow the rules. That way women who have been waiting longer than me get seen first.

I use opk's.... unfortunately i have terrible insomnia so temping for me is inaccurate, though i still try.

I know i ovulate, and am very lucky to compared to some other ladies. But my lp is 10 days, consistently over many months...if i had only been trying a short while i wouldn't risk it, and i totally understand your opinion.

But i've been trying for so long that one month of trying something like soy, even if it goes differently to how i hope, is worth it. Mainly psychologically.

I've done alot of research, and there is alot out there that is conflicting. Some women do have a definite affect on their lp, the earlier ovulation helps increase it.

It's worth it for me, in my situation.

I'll keep you updated, thank you for your help xx :hugs:

Very excited! :happydance:

I've been using opk's early this month to determine if the Soy will have affected my ovulation. (I keep a rigid diary on my cycles, although i don't temp as it's ineffective and inaccurate for me, i use opks)

I normally ovulate roughly cd16 each month...i have a gentle rise of lh which is visible on the opk's.

Well i've tested this afternoon and i have quite a strong second line! It's not positive yet, but i wouldn't be expecting a line like this until next week!

So far, very positive results with the Soy! Even if i get a bfn this month i am very happy that my O will be sooner and that this will 'hopefully' lengthen my lp.

I'll keep you updated further as to when i get my positive opk.

x

Awesome!! Great news! Better drag your OH to bed!! :haha: :winkwink:
