After sharing each other's journey's these past 9 months it seems a shame for us all to be scattered about the place now so here's a place for all the november sparklers mummies to be reunited "on the other side" so to speak! :crib:

Our babies will all be similar ages so hopefully we can be a big support for each other still

So...how is everyone getting on so far? Tobias is 3 weeks old today and i can't believe how quickly it has gone  I always expected to go overdue so i also find it weird that i could technically still be pregnant and nothing would be done about it until next week! When i look at him i find it hard to remember what life was like before he was here as it's all about him now :cloud9:

I feel like we are doing well, he breastfeeds like a little champ, although i must admit it is tiring being his "sole provider" in that sense as he still feeds anything from hourly to 3 hourly so the nights can be rough going (and OH basically sleeps through it all most nights :dohh:) Toby is a good baby though and generally when he's crying it's obvious why, like he is due a feed or you're changing his nappy (he's not a fan!) so i feel like we're very blessed in that sense.

I am loving being a mummy but i do wish i knew more people with young babies, as for me having him here is so all consuming it's basically all i think/talk about and as only one other couple we know has a child i think i am starting to feel a bit like i am drifting apart from our friends and wishing they understood more/were going through the same thing...

(Another reason why it will be nice to catch up with you ladies on here :) )

Hope everyone else is settling in ok too?

Hello!!!!!!!!

im a sparkler! with Willow only a day old!
it feels like i have had her for longer though! in a good way obviously! = 0 )

still getting used to being a mummy, i still dont think its actually sunk in properly yet!!

xx

Hey Rebaby and flower01, sure we will be the first of many in here. Fantastic idea rebaby, will be so nice to keep up with everyone. Katie is also 3 weeks old today, Toby and Katie were born same day which is cool :) Things are going well, pretty much the same as you really, she sleeps quite a bit and feeds a LOT!! She had me up pretty much constantly feeding last night from 10.30 till 3.30am this morning so I am shattered as also bfing solely and DH sleeping through..... wouldnt change a thing though of course as she is awesome and so well behaved. Might be something to do with their birthdate eh? Two chilled out babies :)

Am thinking of starting to express this weekend to see if DH can get her to take a bottle to help me out a little... a bit worried about any effect this may have on her feeding from the breast but if I dont try it, will never know....

Hope you girls have a wicked weekend, catch up again soon xx

Hey Chrissie, good luck with the expressing! I am keen on taking that route if my baby ever decides to arrive. I can't see it being too early for a bottle. You aren't having any troubles breastfeeding, which is the advice I hear the most. Let me know how it goes. I am curious.

Hey girls, I'm so glad that this thread is here, it will be lovely to keep in touch with you all having shared our pregnancies together.

Thomas is one month old today - it's his one month birthday, we even sang happy birthday to him this morning, LOL. He is doing great, putting on loads of weight, he's 8 lb 14 oz now (4.02 kg), had him weighed this morning :happydance:.

Like others, I'm finding the feeding pretty exhausting at times, although just in the last week it is starting to get a little bit easier and he generally has one slightly longer stretch now at night where he will go 4 hours from one feed to the next (sleeping for about 3 and a half hours) which is a big improvement as he used to feed at least every two hours day and night. But it's so lovely to see him putting on the weight and knowing that he's getting everything he needs from me.

Chrissie, I started expressing a little bit each morning when Thomas was 4 weeks old, I have found it easier than I expected, I just have a manual pump but was able to express 5 oz this morning in about 15 or 20 minutes which I thought was great. I'm planning to build up a little supply in the freezer so that I can eventually go out and leave somebody babysitting.

The first time that OH tried to give him a bottle, he wouldn't really take it, kept trying to take too much of the teat into his mouth and then spitting it out and only drank about half an ounce. We tried again yesterday earlier in the day when he was in better form and he got the hang of it and drank the full 2 oz in the bottle. From the research I have done on the internet, it seems that it is recommended to introduce bottles between 4 and 6 weeks once breastfeeding is well-established, but definitely not to leave it any later than that as the baby may refuse to take a bottle at all, which would obviously not be ideal! I was chatting to one of the midwives about it today at the breastfeeding support group that I go to, and she basically said the same thing, she said there is no need to give a bottle every day, but try to give a bottle at least every two or three days just so the baby is used to it.

Rebaby - I don't have too many friends with babies either, but I have been going to a local breastfeeding support group and it is very sociable, the girls generally all go for coffee in somebody's house afterwards. So it has been a really good way for me to meet mums living in the local area. Might be worth seeing if there's any mum and baby groups near you?

Looking forward to keeping in touch with all the Sparkler mummies on here.

Hello again ladies!
Cole is 10 days old today! We are having issues with my breastmilk, but we are getting there from help with a specialist. We have to supplement with formula :( but it's best for baby as he dropped from 9lbs2oz to 8lbs4oz and just made it up to 8lbs6oz a week out of the hospital. Over the past two days though, he's been asking for food almost hourly unless he's down for a nap during the day. We wake up every 2-3 hours at night to feed too! But, last night was a good night, we slept through for a few hours, but for some reason we just can't stand 3a.m. and he wakes up for a good hour or so (sometimes up to five!!! :dohh:) I had a dream there was a ghost in the room, so when he woke up at the "witching" hour, I felt really silly!
We've only been out of the house twice since getting home as it's flu season and a few people have h1n1 in the area and passed away. Anyone else become a little more paranoid since LO has arrived?

DH and I are still over the moon! Hope you ladies are too!

Hi everyone!!! I'm so glad we've got a place to catch up with each other!!!

Jac is 6 weeks and 1 day old now. He's 11lbs 3oz. He's just beyond gorgeous. He was ill last week! He had a cough and a cold it was awful! All gone now though. We're still breastfeeding which hasn't gone at all smoothly with thrush and illness and all that.

Jac is smiling now but only for me hahahaha!!!!! OH is very put out that he can't get him to smile. Not my fault I'm funny.

Yay, it's so good to see familiar 'faces' all in one place!

We're having 'one of those days' today chrissie, i think Toby is having a growth spurt because he's been feeding almost constantly since lunch time! I have only left the bed to go to the bathroom and am starting to feel like a prisoner! But i am determined to ride it out, even if i am totally knackered already (lord knows what tonight will be like)

Glad Jac is feeling better raerae

Congratulations flower on the birth of willow :hugs:

And happy one month birthday to Thomas :happydance:

And mommabunni- i am definitely more paranoid now we have Tobias, i feel like there is so much to worry about for him that there aren't enough hours in the day!

Just thought I'd share a couple of photos of my beautiful little boy.

He's getting so big now!

Today I was at a support group and there was a mum there with a 6 day old baby - I couldn't get over how small she was, it's hard to believe that Thomas was smaller than that just a couple of weeks ago!!

Well we tried expressing and DH giving Katie a bottle last night and she took to it immediately :) Whats even better, she went on the breast without problem after too and we had a reasonable sleep last night with her feeding 3 hourly instead of hourly :)

Love the pics polaris  thomas looks so alert! Most of our pics of Tobias are 'sleepy pics' lol.

Great news about the expressing chrissie  i ordered a breast pump today. Not sure when we'll start to introduce bottles but i figure it won't hurt to start building a wee supply up in the freezer now.

Toby fed almost constanty from lunchtime yesterday until 2am this morning- it was a rough time. Won't go into it all as i posted over in breastfeeding about it, but i am pleased to say he's been a bit more settled today...still feeding often but actually resting inbetween, which is better for us both.

Thanks, he still has a lot of sleepy moments too. But he is opening his eyes more and more and starting to take more of an interest in the world which is exciting!

Well after my reply to your post yesterday in which i commented on how much Thomas has settled down in the past week as regards the feeding, I think I spoke too soon! Off to do a post about my own nightmare night last night. He was pretty much awake and wanting to feed with only short little cat naps from 9 p.m. till 4 a.m. Thank God OH was there to help with him, I don't know if I would have got through it. Surely it can't be another growth spurt already, we only just got over the last one.

Also we have been trying for the past week with limited success to introduce a soother. Well he finally took it properly last night but it turned into a bit of a disaster, every time he would start to doze off it fell out of his mouth and he woke up screaming. I'm also conscious that he was probably hungry, although i only gave him the soother after a long time on the boob when he was starting to get really fussy and not really latching on properly anymore. Still we are thinking we might be causing more trouble for ourselves introducing the soother, OH thinks we should throw it in the bin, as if he gets so he won't sleep without it we would be worse off!. What do other people think?

hey girls :) thanks rebaby for making this thread!
Jack is doing great hes now 3weeks1day cant beleave how fast time flys!
i started off bf jack but had to stop after 3days as he was making me bleed and the pain was unreal, i still feel so bad for stopping :( my hv advised me to give him a soother as he just wanted to suck on everything its worked a treat and really calmed him down!

hope everyone is ok and enjoying their weekend. xxxxxx

Here is my little (giant) Jac at 6 weeks! He's weighing 11lbs 6oz now.

So glad we're getting a load more sparkler mums coming soon!!

Wow RaeRae, he is beautiful! He must be nearly growing out of his 0 to 3 month clothes already!!

I was just wondering, could somebody post a link to this group in the Baby Club forum so that the other November mums know that it's here? I would but I don't know how to do it

And raerae your (not so) little guy is such a cutie :D

awww the babies are all so beautiful!!! It's making me even more impatient

I have a feeling my baby is going to be a December Star...but I think I will stick here if that is ok.

Hey ladies, dunno if you'll have me here, was meant to be having a bumpkin, but she came out with a sparkler! Was due on the 21st oct, and was induced and had her on the 3rd nov.

Kacies 4 weeks tomorrow! Can't believe how fast the time has gone, at this rate she'll be 18 before I know it lol

Definitely stick around snugglebot, hopefully your LO won't keep you waiting much longer :hugs:

And welcome aboard expecting09 and congratulations on your little girl

We're backwards and forwards to the doctors today, had to go to register Tobias as a patient and we're going back for an emergency appointment later as i *think* there's a possibility he might have oral thrush :(

Also started my parenting journal today, it will mostly just be me waffling away to myself i think but i am finding it good to get everything written down
