Hi guys, I am trying to not freak out (a lie, I already did) and could use some info on spotting after a pap test. I got the test done last week on Thursday and the doc told me there could be some spotting. I didn't have any until two days after, then I had very light brown spotting. Until this afternoon I thought it was tapering off, just to find out that there was some fresh blood when I wiped. I called the office and a clueless nurse called me back, telling me: "Yeah, that's a long time after. I'll have the doctor call you tomorrow."

My question then is: Have any of you spotted five days after the pap test?

Of course I read all the horror stories online about paps causing miscarriages. I also know that correlation is not causation, but the fact that I was fine until I walked into the doctor's office and now I am worried sick is maddening and I wish I had never let the doctor perform the test.

I also had a pap smear I was 4 weeks along, I didnt have spotting but i did read its normal. Now 5 days later is a few days but it can happen, my sister had some spotting even some red blood only when she wiped 3 days after her papsmear when she was pregnant. Im not sure if you looked it up on google but someone posted tis picture and it helped understand and calm my fears about pap smears being dangerous. when the doc does the pap smear in the inner and outer os are covering the uterus so the baby is far away from where they are.

I had brown spotting two days after my pap. My doc said if it was 72 hours after it was fine. It ended up going from like 18th or 19th until Christmas eve. It has restarted this week as well but don't think that is from the pap.

If paps caused miscarriages, I doubt OBs would do them that much. I think you should be just fine.

I should have updated this: I was diagnosed with a missed miscarriage this week. Took Misoprostol yesterday. It's all back to square one for me. Hopefully third time is a charm. Good luck to all you guys!
