We've got the Avent Steam Steriliser - was given it by my auntie so don't have the instructions.

It says on the box once opened everything stays sterile for 2 hrs,
does this mean once ive took a bottle out to make a feed (& left the rest in there) i will need to sterilise it all again 2 hours later as its been opened?
Also if i took all the bottles out & left them on the side would this keep them sterile?

I dont have an answer for your question, but you said you dont have the instructions have you tried googling the product for an instruction manual that may annswe your question.

Sorry i couldn be much of a help.

I did try but couldn't find one, will have another look now, thanks :)

I have the instructions handy (was packaging mine up to sell when I found your post) - all it says in there is "NB Items will remain sterile in the Microwave Steam Steriliser for up to 24 hours providing the lid is not removed" nothing else at all but about 96 million different pictures of how to fit a million things in there in different combinations and then all the other language instruction pages.

They do generally reply fairly quickly if you contact their customer services though - I've had to contact them about a teat with no holes and a knackered breast pump in the past and had callbacks on the phone the next working day.

No probs if you know the model you shouldbe able to find an instruction manual, if not i'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out.

i have the steriliser and i read that as soon as its open then immediatly it wont be sterile anymore so i always get the bottles out and put them all togther and put them on the side as they then remain sterile for 24 hours - if however you didnt remove the lid and left them in there they would remain sterile for up to 6 hours

hope that helps :flower:

Thats brill thankyou!
So if i sterilise 6, then take them all out at the same time & put the lids on - if they don't get used they won't need sterilising for 24 hours?
Whereas if i take 1 out & leave 5 in there, i will need to sterilise again before i use them?
If that makes sense xxx

yep exactly that - as long as they are sealed then they are fine for 24 hours whilst if they are not they will need re sterilising :flower:

i do this and chuck them in the fridge- so that if they are not 100% sterile the nastys aren't going to be growing at a massive rate.
