I think its personal preference. I have both!
I've had a microwave steriliser from the beginning then bought an electric about a month and 1/2 ago. Got to say I haven't used the microwave steriliser since...but will be taking away on holiday with us.
I bought the tommee tippee microwave steriliser, but use it as a cold water one. Only change the water every 24hrs and add 2 tablets which are really cheap, just keep the bottles in the solution and take out when needed.
It was the easiest option for me as I couldnt get my head around all the electric and microwave stuff - Plus they are much much cheaper!
I also have the Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser. I only use it as a cold water one though. It's so easy to use and you don't have to worry about the bottles becoming un-sterile as soon as the lid is open!
we have an electric one : https://www.mothercare.com/Philips-...ing=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=42764041&mcb=core and for us, it's brilliant! we also have a milton cold water one, and thats pretty great too, especially for popping dummies in etc x
i use cold water, just wash bottles and put them in then take them out as and when it take 15 mins to sterilise and you know they are always sterile whe you make the bottles, really handy for shoving and keeping dummies in, i never try an electric too complicated and you need to be organised and i'm not lol
xx
Ive got the Avent microwave one and would sooo recommend it hon.
Ive used it for 8 and a half months now and never had a single issue with it and its really easy to use xx
One thing to bear in mind with steam sterilisers whether electronic or microwave is that different brands/models keep the bottles sterile for different amounts of time....... My first microwave steriliser only kept the bottles sterile for 3 hours which was a real pain as it meant I had to run it once my LO woke up for a feed as he would often go over 3 hours from the last one. It took 6 minutes to sterilise, then 3 minutes to cool and by the time you made up the bottle he was screaming his head off as he had waited over 10 minutes! This was a nightmare especially in the middle of the night. So I then did a bit of research and bought the Avent microwave sterilser as it keeps sterile for 24 hours until opening, so basically now when I make up his bottle I then put the steriliser straight back on then it's all ready to go as soon as he wants his next feed which is so much better
