Sterilising?

hi ladies i wonder if you can help me with this?

Im sure someone once told me that when their steriliser broke they used their NEW (in box) electric food steamer instead.. do you think that would do the same job?

in an emergency until i could get another i would boil it in a pot the old fashioned way of sterilising although tbh i dont know if a food steamer would do the same, i would defo boil as we know its safe

I can't see it would be any different to the microwave steamer. All that is, is a plastic tub with a bit of water in the bottom and 8 minutes on full power!
