When is everyone thinking about stopping sterilising bottles? With my daughter I carried on until she was about 14 months old because she got a viral infection at about 12 months so I was worried about risking making her ill again. I know the guidelines are 12 months but we are going on holiday when my son will be nearly 11 months and I don't really want the hassle of taking a steriliser along with all the other stuff we need, but I don't want to stop too early either ?

i thought 6mth was the end, but im stil doing it till hes 1 x

I might change my mind when I reach the stage you're at, but I think I'll probably sterilise bottles for the whole time I'm using them for formula. It's just too easy for nasty bugs to breed in there. If I do stop earlier, I'll make sure they've been through the dishwasher, which is the next best thing.

I think when Bobby is about a year old I will stop x

I agree with this, I'll keep going til he starts on regular milk, which I think is 12 months.

you could always just take a seal tight tub to fit a couple bottles and just use cold water sterilsing tablets? means you dont have the hassle of having to plug in yout sterliser and use bottles by a certain time etc?

I did not even think of other alternatives, just the fact that I might have to squeeze the big electrical steriliser into the car along with everything else. :dohh: Thanks, will definately do that. x :hugs:

I'll prob get lash for this but i dont sterilise no more. I clean each bottle in the sink then fill with boiling water , empty & then fill with the correct oz he needs.

I sterilised until the twins here 8 months old. They started to crawl and pick things up so I stopped. Every now and again I wills stick them in the dishwasher so they get a good clean but mostly just wash them in the sink with hot soapy water and then rinse them!

When Jaycee was admitted to hospital in December I sterilised her bottles! and when she came home I continued to sterilise until her medicine was finished but she soon got better and I stopped again xx

As long as we'r using bottles I guess. I dont knw
