What age do you think I can stop sterilizing Cameron's bottles? I mean, just washing them really well instead. Or should they be sterilized once a week? What have you guys done????

Maybe I should have put this in the FF section. I'll do that, but I don't know how to delete this one! Sorry guys.

they say u can stop at 6 months but i think im going to do it for longer than that.

:flower:

As far as I know you should be sterilising them before every feed up to 6 months old.
I'll be doing it upto a year. x

I sterilized up until a year (when we threw out bottles) but Hannah was only having 2 bottles a day at that point so it wasn't much work on me

I thought that bottles needed to be sterilised for as long as you use them (a year ish) because of the teats harbouring bacteria etc. At 6 months you don't need to sterilise bowls, spoons etc, just give a good wash. I will be sterilising my bottles before making them up for as long as Freya is on them. :)

I am sterlising everything until at least a year. The teats I want to do for longer if she is still using a bottle. Something about the milk being in the teat I just want to be extra sure.

I am doing mine in the dishwasher so there always being sanitised as long as i have a dishwasher which i will make sure is forever haha

So, does a dishwasher count as sterilizing?

^ I wouldnt say so, but my mum says as long as everything is 'clinically clean'' which could mean a good boil wash.
Either way i woudlnt not sterilize before he's 6 months. if he got a bug you would always wonder if it was because you didnt sterilise.

The dishwasher is considered sterilization as well i have researched it because they sit in the steaming dishwasher afterwards for quite some time as well as there washed with near boiling water. I cant even touch my dishes after the dishwasher turns off there so hot. I wouldnt even begin to know where my child would pick up a bug this day and age so i wouldnt automatically think from not sterilizing but to each there own.

we stopped last month as we moved and now have a dishwasher..

we use dr brown bottles i just make sure all the bottle is put together once dishwasher is finished :)

You're supposed to sterilize either using special sterilizing equipment or boiling for 10 minutes for a year and a dishwasher doesn't count as having sterilized unless it's above 80 degrees. You can also microwave sterilize or cold water sterilize with tablet solutions.

I never sterlized bottles, teats or anything else.
And none of my 3 children have never ever been ill.
