Still not had my dating scan date through!

Hey girls

I'm so annoyed just wanted to share..

I had my first midwife appointment last Thursday at 11 weeks 5 days which I thought was quite far on for a first appointment anyway.

But in the appointment the midwife just made me feel like she wasnt interested, she just asked me a few quick questions, didnt take my blood presure, urine sample, listen to the heartbeat or feel my tummy. And that was it.. I just felt like I was looking forward to it and then when it happened it was nothing.. maybe I expected too much?

Anyway she said she would send my referal off that day and I would get a letter from the hospital with a scan date soon.

It's been a week and I still havent heard - I'm 12 weeks 5 days now so I should have already had the scan or it should have been very soon.

So I phoned hospital to see if they have booked me a date yet and they had no record for me, they said they hadnt received a referal for me at all.

So I phoned doctors who said they would get the midwife to call me and I will have to explain to her that I havent heard yet.. but I dont really want to talk to her as she made me feel uncomfortable.. I dont even think she likes children as I had my 20 month old daughter with me and the midwife seemed annoyed by her despite the fact that my daughter is very well behaved and sweet.

Has anyone else not had a 12 week scan yet or any problems with hearing when it is? I am just worried that once they finally set me a date it will be ages away if they are busy. My friend is 8 weeks and she already has her date and she had her first midwife appointment at 5 weeks.. I just feel like I have been left on my own in a way.. I just want to know my baby is OK

In all honesty, it sounds like you might want to try to find a new doctor. You deserve to be seen by a doctor that you feel cars about their job! Maybe your friend could tell you the name of her doctor and you could try to get an appointment there?

I know you don't want to but I think you're going to have to ring the midwife, did she give you her number in your maternity notes? If the hospital haven't had your referral she's the only one who can really chase it up. I hope you get it sorted soon.

hmm thats definately a little late! i didnt have my booking in appointment in my last pregnancy untill 10 weeks but still got my scan date through in time for my 12 week scan. this time round im barely 7 weeks and have had my first midwife appointment (although i wont see her now untill 16 weeks) iv been referred for an emergency scan as i had pain and spotting, and i got my letter through for my 12 week scan yesterday (even though ill only be just short of 11 weeks by the time its due)

Id definately ring her up. If all else fails look for another doctor in your area but do it soon before you miss out, i know theres certain week windows they need these scans to be performed x

Get hold of the community midwife team,,the number should be in your notes and somebody there will be able to help you. My appointment isn't until the 3rd October and I'll be 10+2 then which means I'll probably be in the same boat as you lol. Hope you get hold of somebody who can help you soon . Good luck xx

I'm shocked that your mw didnt take your bp or test your urine! Mine did all that and took blood measured bump, my height weight etc i was in there for about 2hrs. Im sure you can request to change your mw, but in the mean time you really should contact her to tell her to get her bum in gear and let you have your dating scan! I'm still waiting for mine. I had my booking in appointment at 9 weeks and was told my dating scan is booked in anytime between 10-13 weeks. Hope you get somewhere soon x

In my province in Canada, we don't get our first scan until 20 weeks and they won't see us for our first prenatal until 12w. Our babies aren't any less healthy so while I hope it sorts out for you, trust that your baby is just fine

Thankyou Everyone It makes me feel better reading your feedback.

The midwife got in touch with me, she just said that the referal was deffinatly sent to the hospital and I should get my letter with dating scan time by mid next week and if not to give her another call.

I will be moving in November so will get my midwife back that I had with my daughter which I am very glad about
