Wow that is a BIG quake! I remember doing the earthquake drills in school when I lived in BC... fun stuff! Then I moved to Southern Ontario and had to practice tornado drills and then I moved where I am now and we had to practice lock down drills
I've always wanted to be in just a little earthquake to experience it but I keep missing them! In BC there was a 6.something and we were right on the epicenter... but I slept through it and then about a month ago there was just a little 5.1 earthquake and I missed it cause I was driving in my not so smoothe riding car and didn't notice it couldn't figure out for the life of me why everyone was running into the streets... (they don't actually know what to do in the event of an earthquake here and EVERYONE thought that running outside and standing beside the buildings with wall to wall windows was the safest option... )
And just a few weeks before that my mom was making fun of me cause I was teaching my 5 year old daughter what to do in the event of an earthquake.... cause apparently we don't get earthquakes here!
