stitches

This may be a dumb question but typically what kind of stitches are used? The dissolvable kind? Or the kind that need to be removed?

I had staples and they needed to be removed about 4 days after the section.

I had staples that were removed 5 days after the section. I'm guessing there's dissolvable stitches inside though.

Dissolvable on the inside and I had a single long stitch through the wound with beads on either end that had to be removed a few days after the surgery - that was done at home by a MW just using a pair of tweezers/forceps.

Felt very funny as you felt it sliding along your scar...bleurgh.

I had internal stitches that dissolved. No staples for me!

You have whatever your surgeon prefers. I had both staples and sutures. Staples removed day 6 and sutures removed day 10 (I had vertical c section so that's why I had both, not the norm). Doesn't hurt at all to have them removed

Why did they do the vertical instead of the horizontal incision?

I'm not sure why. I'm actually in the process of requesting my hospital notes so I know what happened. I had a pretty traumatic time before the EMCS and the doctors were convinced I was going to get PTSD so they didn't tell me much. At the time, I was relieved LO got here safe so I didn't ask too much, but I want to know now.

i had dissolvable stitches. have had staples on another abdominal op though and theyre nothing to worry about if you do have them, i barely even knew they were taking them out. I think i may end up with staples this time though due to my other scars and it being my 2nd cs. x

I had dissolvable stitches on the inside, glue on the outside and another 2 dissolvable stitches in the corners on the outside. I never had to go back after 5 or 10 days to take out any stitches. This was the way they did it for all 3 my c-sections. I'm still at the same dr, so I believe she's going to do the same again, I hope!

I had dissolvable the firs time and staples the second, my MW said the more sections you have the more likely you are to have staples

I had a running stitch and they were removed on day 5.

I also had drains which were removed at the same time.

I had a puff on Entonox to take the edge off.

everything was disolvible for me.

staples for me on 1 and no3 sections and disolve one on my 2nd section . halve of the staple out on day 5 and rest out on day 7 . and to be honest id rather get more staple out than get my brows plucked as thats more painful than staples coming out lol

hey hakunna. I am getting the dis solvable ones according to the ob so there is no need for removing them or having staples taken out which is a great thing!!!

Hi with my first i had internal disolvable stitch and glue (i loved it). The second one i had staples it hurt like anything having them removed as skin started growing over them. Midwife couldn't understand why he used staples and neither could i it was more painful getting around with them then the glue. I will be putting my foot down saying i will not be having staples this time around
