My daughter is 26 months and she recently went from feeding twice a day (or sometimes only once) before sleep to not nursing at all. To make a long story short, I started offering her cow's milk in a cup instead of mommy's milk and she happily switched.

After two days, my breasts were getting heavy and a little uncomfortable so I hand expressed a little. Now it's been another two days and it's not as bad. My question is... if my breasts get heavy and uncomfortable again, should I express or just leave it? I know it's part of the weaning process and it sends the message to my breasts to stop producing, but isn't weaning usually more gradual? I had actually planned to wean gradually, but my girl had other plans, I guess.

I would express but slowly reduce the amount so you don't feel engorged or get mastitis. You can always give that milk to You DD:winkwink:
