So I have been googling this all day and I can't seem to find a good explanation. The last couple of days baby started making these jerky movements kind of feel like seizures and only lasted a couple of seconds. It happened twice I think in the same day and really freaked me out. It feels like well imagine a roach that got rolled on it's back and is trying to flip over and is moving a it's feet and jerking. I haven't talked to my doctor yet. I have ultrasound tomorrow but I doubt they will find anything. I read a lot of similar posts and none of the other ladies got a good explanation from their doctor or say anything on the ultrasound. My next doctor appointment is in 2 weeks and I will ask then.
Has anyone on here felt this and knows what is causing it? It is not hiccups, trust me.
I am amazed that so many people felt that and talked to their doctors only to not get an answer. Shouldn't someone know what it is if it is so common?

I have no idea what it is either but I just wanted to tell you that DD did this when I was pregnant with her too. I googled and asked my doc and couldn't find anything on it. My aunt is epileptic so I was afraid DD would be too but she is just healthy and perfect. I never got any answers but she came out ok!!

I heard that around 23-24 weeks, baby starts to hiccup more often. Mines not hiccupping yet that ive noticed, but one of my pregnant coworkers who is farther along, said it basically feels like what you described. She gets jumpy and movements jerk a lot for a few minutes, then it goes away. if its at the same time, it could be because of timing of when you eat or something that means nutrients are going to baby at the same time each day too (I know I hiccup after eating too much sometimes!)

I had that with my first too! Think it's just something they do lol

It isn't hiccups, this is much much quicker and lasts seconds in total. It's like little feet and hands are hitting in all directions really quick.

I know exactly what ur talking about! Only had it with baby #4, so I was totally freaked out thinking he was have a seizure. I actually googled it that way, and found a thread. Turns out it's really just baby doing some incredibly quick ninja-type moves in there!! He's almost 4 now, and perfectly healthy!!

Have had this a couple times in the last week, too. You arent alone!

I had this with my son and my current pregnancy too. It feels like a little earthquake inside and I can see my belly fluttering rapidly. I never thought of it in terms of seizures. I just always thought it was the baby moving quickly or moving all limbs at the same time. My son is perfectly healthy so I guess it was nothing to worry about.

I get this too! Never thought anything bad about it  just figured it was baby wiggling/moving around quickly x

Thanks for sharing, it is very reassuring to hear other people are experiencing it and things have turned out normal.

My midwife said it was just reflex moves, like the moro reflex.

My MW said with my DD it was the startle reflex. I noticed after she was born that when she startled in her sleep it was more than likely what I was feeling. She's a very healthy, happy and active 11 month old :)

I get that feeling too. If u see a baby who has been born at say 25 weeks and watch them move, they jerk alot and make sudden movements. I just figured it was that xxx

I get this too. I'm 26ish weeks and sometimes I feel solid kicks and limbs dragging on my belly, other times its extremely jerky movements. They are kind of uncomfortable and sudden. I wouldn'tworry I aassume they are ultra fast jerky kicks or tumbles.

I wouldn't worry, I've felt movements like this in all of my pregnancies and have never had a problem. I do just think it's the fact they still have so much room to move about in there.

X
