I am going to put this in the formula feeding section too. My Lo is 12 weeks for a few weeks now she has been fussing and refusing her bottle. I am going to get her weighed this morning, 3 weeks ago she was 12lb 14. On average she is having 25oz a day which is not alot for her weight. She takes the first half of her milk fine, she then pushes out the teat and i wind her and i try give her the rest and she is not interested. She turns her head and arches her back. This morning she has only taken 3oz, has anyone got any advice? Spoke to my HV but she was not much help. I am just worrying over nothing, just dont know what else to do!

Hi,
My LO went through a similar thing when he was 3 months. Have no idea why and HV also didnt really have a clue!

Think it is just a phase (alot of mums from my ante natal class have also expereinced the same thing). It could also be the start of teething? Maybe the sucking is hurting her gums?

I was told as long as LO is having plenty of wet nappies and seems happy and alert and is putting on weight then not to worry (easier said then done I know).

It only lasted 2 weeks for us

xx

I know i try not to worry about it but its so hard, had her weighed today and she is 13lb 13 so only put on a 1lb in 3 weeks.

Happened to Hannah as well and she never did take the recommended amounts (was always way under) but she gained weight and had plenty of wet diapers.

I could've written your post. Bella does the same. She'll have the first 2/3oz no problem, the start grunting, pushing the bottle out, arching her back, going stiff, the works. I'm hoping it's a phase. I've tried changing teats but that hasn't made much difference.

Sorry i'm no help, just wanted you to know you're not alone.

Thank you, its good to know i'm not alone. I just wish there was something i could do, so she takes her milk better. She is a very happy baby, so i think i am just going to have to stop worrying about it.

My LO did exactly this for a week or so when she hit 3 months. She was drinking about half her milk and then screaming and refusing more. Even after winding she still screamed and wouldn't take any more. I changed her teats for faster ones and she is 100% better. She is now on Dr. Brown's level 3 which are for 6 months plus but HV said as long as she is happy it doesn't matter. My feeling is that she was getting frustrated and tired with feeding for so long and now she gets all her milk much more quickly she is far happier.

Thanks she is on TT size 2 at the mo, but she dribbles abit with these so dont think i could up them again.
