Hi
With my first I had 3 unsuccessful s&s at 41, 41+2, 41+4
It took me to 2-3 cm but I was still induced 41+5

This time I struggle alot with SPD and n the consultant will s&s me at 39+6
They say if you have given birth before its more of a chans to work

Did your s&s work?

I'm takin epo to try and help prepare my cervix

I had SPD in 2nd pregnancy but was not offered sweep before 41wks because they didn't feel my body would be ready.

When sweep was done i didn't feel it would work i was 2cm, but wasn't soft, cervix was facing the back but she arrived within 48hr window slot.
good luck!

Iv had mine today at 40+1, i am 1-2 cm dilated, so i will let you know if it works x

Oh man. =( I hope it works... My SPD/sciatica has been so bad (and now I have a small hernia from separated muscles to add to that lol) that my doctor said he would do it last week but I had 0 dilation so he couldn't. I am supposed to have it done tomorrow so hopefully he can try at least!

I wish I could be happy waiting til my due date or longer, but I'm so uncomfortable I can't enjoy this last part of pregnancy at all! LO seems big and strong at least so I'm not worried if the doctor thinks its ok.

I really hope it works. I've heard EPO is really helpful for so many things like preparing the cervix/strengthening contractions/preventing depression/softening tissues to lessen tears... I've been taking it too. =)

Snap, I've been taking epo, rlt and having baths with clary sage oil, as well as massaging with it too, not hoping for them to bring on labour but to get cervix ready! I'm at the hospital on Thursday when I'll be 39+1 (40 if you go off my dates!) and they're going to see if they can do a sweep because my spd is killing too and the crutches have stopped helping now. When dd is in nursery I pretty much spend the day in the bath as that's the only time it's mildly bearable! Well and truely fed up now! X

I had my midwife examine me on a Friday at around midday, and I was 1cm but she couldn't do the sweep. However I'm pretty sure just the examination in itself set things off because about 5 hours later my contractions started and my son was born just before midnight on the Saturday! About 9 hours before he was born, she came to the house to examine me again and did a sweep and that made me have a contraction as she was doing it, and after that, my labour really did progress quickly. So I guess my body was very responsive, but I know with lots of people sweeps do nothing. I don't think there is any way of knowing if sweeps will be effective for you, until you try:thumbup:

Sorry to say my sweep didnt work and im still here :nope:
Had another today, and she could fit two fingers in with ease and i am very favourable to go into labour naturally soon aparentley, so hoping this sweep will do something.

Iv also been using EPO from 37 weeks, bathing with clary sage and taking rlt since 33 weeks x

I had a s+s with my first in the morning and later than evening my waters broke but didn't start contracting till the next night x

Not for me. I had 2, I can't remember how far along I was, maybe 7 days over and 10 days over?

okay, guess i can comment now since, no, neither of them have worked. i was only 2cm and 3 cm, though.

I had a sweep on my due date with Alex and 2days later he was born.

Mine never worked. I had 3 of them. 1 at 40+1, one at 40+5, and another at 41 weeks. Didn't have him until 41+5. I tried EVERYTHING to get him out after 40 weeks and NONE of it worked. I think if it works you were probably going to give birth without it anyways.
