Stretch Marks

As others have said, it seems to be mostly a genetics thing. Every female in my family had to deal with stretch marks during their pregnancies, and I'm no different. I think the main thing you can do to prevent getting them too badly, is to make sure that you don't gain a lot of weight all at once. My worst stretch marks came around the times when I had unnecessarily large "growth spurts". ;)

I do still use some cream I bought from a maternity store, just in case it somehow helps. But I really don't think it does.

Creams and lotions do not work. Best chance of not gettig any is lots of water, excersise, slow weight gain, and no scratching the itch on belly if you get itchy. So far i've been in the clear but I still got 4 weeks to go.
So far I have broke all these rules and I'm on my 4th pregnancy this time with twins. I admit i use(d) creams and oil but not religiously:dohh: because i forget and i have no marks. I got stretchmarks on my bum in puberty nice booty lol:haha: and on boobs a lil when i got implants but none from pregnancy that i can tell. I get a lot bigger than my sister (she has 1 baby) she gained 20lbs:cry: and has marks BAD ! I have gained 40+ with my singletons and 70+ this time mostly fast 1st and 2nd trimester. I think its luck! Not genetics either mom and sister have em bad!! Good luck!:hugs:

I haven't done a ton to prevent them, just lotion on my belly every couple days (I try to do it everyday but forget). So far I've been lucky and don't have any strech marks *fingers crossed*

I didn't get stretch marks from either of mine, but I used cocoa butter lotion almost every day. Not sure if that's what prevented them or not.

I've noticed your bump, and im so amazed honestly!! lol You would think no matter what your luck is twins would bring on the stretchies. I'm not too sure if genetics play a role in it either. My mom and her side of the family all had stretchmarks by 20 weeks and I mean covered. I havent experienced any. I only have some silvery ones on the back of my hips from puberty and its only a tiny few. I'm praying i'll escape, but I feel proud to have made it this far as I originally thought I was doomed to be covered going by genetics[-o<

I use Boots almond body butter. This is the difference it made in only a few days.

It's amazing stuff but quite pricey. Think it's about £8 for 200ml so I'm looking for a cheaper alternative :)

I didn't get any, not sure why as Mum got loads with me.

So things I did:
Bio Oil 2 x daily from 12 weeks.
Drunk loads of water and got at least 5 fruit and veg a day.
Gained very little weight - but that wasn't on purpose just happened that way with morning sickness and a big baby.
