Hello my name is Lisa im new to this so excuse me if i dont do it right. I got married in April this year and my husband and i have been trying for two years to fall pregnant. I have a 10 yr old daughter from a previous relationship and my husband has two children from a previous relationship who also live with us but it is our dream to have a child of our own. We stupidly thought with us both already having had children it would be easy but as ive already said after two years of constant trying we have got no where. We saw our gp today who has referred us to have fertility tests starting tuesday but im very nervous as i dont know what to expect is anyone else having problems concieving as right now i feel like i am the only person who cant get it right and feel as though i am letting down my husband if anyone can offer advice i would be extremely greatful

if you read the post on this forum you will reealise that there are so many people that have been trying for years, and look in the long time trying to conceive and its full of people.

anyway im hayley ive been trying for nearly a year and we are both 25, i have just had my 1st appointment last tuesday.

we just spoke about our life styles really, if we smoked, drank, when i came off the pill, what my peroids were like etc

well i had a quite rude lady actually(and im not saying to put you off, youll prob have someone lovely) a blood pregnant lady at that. after she had asked me everything she just looked at me and said, so are you on a diet programme.

so she sent me off to have my bmi checked, i was 33 and should be 27 appartently, im 13stone by the way and 5ft 5. and said even the slightest bit of weight lose will help me cycle be more regular and hopefully help me conceive.

so she gave me 3 forms to take to my doctors, i have to have a blood test at day 21 of my cycle to see if i ovulate, it will be day 27 for me as i have slightly longer cycles, and said hubby had to have a sperm analysis, they give you a pot and a number to ring to see wheres closer to you to take it, they have to obstane from ejaculating for 3 days then do the sample and take it to the place within an hour. it depends how old your hubby is, his sperm count could be lower now.

i also have to go for a ultra sound which i was sent within 2 days and its on the 11th july, which was so quick! and that shows if my tubes are blocked etc x

hope this helps, and i was so nervous before hand but it was all fine xx

you def arent alone, i have only been trying 8 months, so not as long as you, but i went to see a fertility specialist because i was diagnosed with PCOS, my periods are VERY irregular, so i have to fo a bunch of test with the FS, CD 2-3 i have to get a "tube test" then cd2-4 i have to get ultrasound and blood work, then CD10-ovulation i have to go in every dy for ultrasound and blood work. i was VERY overwhelmed when i left and DH wasnt with me because he had to work, and i just say in my car when i was done and cried lol, but im ok now and know its for something we both really want. i wish you all the luck though! let us know how it goes!! :hugs:

Thank you for your words of encouragement it is the 21 day blood test and hubbys sperm count this tuesday ive already gone through the hell of trying to lose weight and all my family say now ive lost weight i look ill so cant win on that front but atleast i can say ive tried everything they have asked. My hubby is 38 yrs old so 12 yrs older than me but doctor said that shouldnt be the issue as men can produce babys into their 70s so fingers crossed tuesday shows something that we can properley work with and be on the right road to getting some joy.
