im so mad at tax credits.

oh has just got a pay raise so we called to let them no. now its not a huge raise and hes still earning less then we were wen i was working and yet they feel the need to cut our payment in half even tho im not working anymore and havent been for the past year.

stupid women kept saying well ur oh has got a pay raise and refused to listen to me and how we are still earning less then before and yet we are getting less money.
how come when u need the help u never get it im fuming

have u tried calling them back and seeing if you get someone else? What they might do...and I still dont know why they do this....is put a lump sum in you account and then it evens out over the rest of the year although it would mean a lower payment.x

ive had it with them for one day so i might try and call them tomo and ask them what details they are going by as what ever it is i no must be wrong as i no for a fact my oh isnt earning as much as we did when both working.

oh they drive me insane

I know how u feel.....the amount of times I have lost my rag with them...xx

Tax credits are reduced for 39p in every £ of income earned over a certain amount so are you still getting to keep some of your OH's payrise? Granted only about 30% after tax and NI.

If you are actually getting less overall has your income gone over £50k? There is a minimum child tax credit payment if you jointly earn under £50k.

Or if you no longer have a child under 1 your tax credits are reduced?

Of course they could just be plain wrong, they often are! If so have you tried putting your point in writing?

The withdrawal from tax credits is harsh though. I think the payments are maybe too maygenerous - the slope between getting the tax credits and paying for other people's tax credits has to be very narrow.

Please don't take this the wrong way but you chose to have children, and the govt was good enough to give you benefits to help with your choice. If you really are now entitled to less , is it so bad that they are reducing your benefits?

they can only be going by the details you have given them

i would defo call back and ask for it to be doublechecked though

i wish we were getting anywhere near 50k if we were getting this i wouldnt even think about gettin tax credits and we were actualy better off before my ohs pay rise we are actualy gettin less money...thanks tax man lol

my problem with them reducing what i get is because we r getting less now then wen we had earnt more money and i no a person who chooses not to work and gets everything and i had to give up my job cuz of the army and get no benifits. i didnt claim any tax credits while i was working so thought since i was in need i would
