Anyone else experience this? I went to the ER last night for spotting (just barely brown) but I also had bad cramps (like pre-period) and a low grade fever. They did some ultrasounds and found a small subchorionic hematoma. :( While one doctor said she didn't expect me to miscarry and it should resolve itself, a second doctor came in and said the exact opposite- he actually said "you're likely to miscarry so this is what you should do"...he was a jerk! I'm only 5 weeks and a few days along...has anyone else had this? I know the outcome depends on age, the size and in what trimester you have it, so im trying not to freak myself out with the terrible miscarriage stories on message boards.

Hey! I was just diagnosed with a larger subchorionic hematoma/hemorrhage Tuesday. I had a heavy bleeding episode that caused me to be admitted to the hospital. My doc says that normally with the smaller ones they will resolve themselves. I've been put on bed rest to see if mine will heal at all. It's hard to find a whole lot of info online about this problem. There is a group on here of women that have experienced these. I'll have to find it again. With you being so early on it is very likely yours will heal up just fine. Just take it easy for a while...no lifting, no sex, nothing like that! I don't know a whole lot but if you need to talk or have any questions feel free to message me! :)

Thanks so much! I hope everything goes well for you, too. Im sure NONE of us expect to have stressful moments like these during pregnancy (I stressed about TTC, too, had some complications...so this sucks!) Here's to hoping we have a healthy rest of our terms. :)

Thank you! That's what I kept saying...you just don't expect things to happen like this. You want everything to go perfectly so when it doesn't it terrifies you!

I had one on my first scan and it was gone 10 days later. So it can indeed go away. Best of luck :)

Thats good news! I don't have any spotting anymore- but cramps, which are scary. Did you do bed rest or anything? My doctor said they don't recommend it, but im paranoid and have been laid up anyway!

I did not do anything special...I had some early bleeding so I went in for an early ultrasound. They found a healthy baby and a second empty gestational sac (vanishing twin syndrome) along with a subchorionic hematoma. My doctor said to avoid sex for the next 10 days (not because it would hurt anything but just because it might aggravate the bleeding). Other than that, I did nothing different and the hematoma was gone at my scan 10 days later.

Did you experience any cramping? I think drinking water has helped, but that's been the scariest part that so far, just because it doesn't really let up. Bad constant reminder!

i was told last thursday that i have a small one, they did say i would likely spot from it (and i did over the weekend) even though they told me not to panic i went to the emergency room on monday (i just wanted to know it's not getting bigger and get a shot for my RH - action) the only thing the told me is there is no "active fluid" the only conclusion i can make is that it's just healing . if you can avoid it don't go to the emergency room though they will tell you threatened miscarriage with any kind of spoting/ bleeding even after seeing a strong heartbeat and no active bleeding lol . try not to worry about the cramping i have read many times that blood is an irritant to the uterus and causes it.

Ahhh...I already went to the ER! Haha. That's how they found it. I had a high fever, so thats why I initially went. They also said it was small, and not to worry, but "go home and wait" but didn't give me any other information about it. They actually said any woman with a hematoma has a "50/50" chance of keeping the baby. Not sure I believe that, but I'm no doctor! Just doesn't seem to add up with the Doctors advice online.

Sometimes I feel the blood/irritant period like cramps but other times I feel sharp stabbing pains. Reeeal bummer.

I did not have cramping associated with mine really...my doctors did not say anything about 50/50...they said it is actually pretty common and that depending on where it is located (ie if it is high) you may never bleed or know it's there.

I think the best thing you can do for now is just do your best to relax and think positively. Keep drinking water and just call your doctor when you have questions.

You have my best wishes.

Popping in from tri 2. My subchorionic hematoma was diagnosed at 6 weeks. Im 14 + 4 and still spotting, but baby is just fine. My hematoma ws huge and is shrinking, but really slowly. Quite often with a sch the baby is not in any danger at all. Wishing you the best!
