The meat isn't steaming but it's hot. Is that good enough? We have a wonderful Subway nearby and I am so craving one.

ive been eating them as normal hun the MW's here dont even tell you to be careful about them

Subway is perfectly fine - we eat it all the time and did the same with my first pregnancy. No dr's say it's a no no here.

My doctor said pre-cooked deli meat is OK, but not to overdo it like most other foods anyway. I have been eating sandwiches without reheating as well and all is ok :)

I've still been eating Subway occasionally (okay, once a week..!)

I get the roasted chicken one (with the formed chicken patty...) and toasted too... figure it's okay... and with all those veggies, fairly healthy in terms of a quick lunch!

Oh wow, had no idea the meat was pre cooked. How can I tell if other deli's pre cook the meat?

I ate subway throughout my pregnancy. I ate Hillshire Farm lunchmeat, as well. My doctor didn't advise against it.

Hubby works there and he brings home subs once or twice a week. He toasts it just in case but it's precooked.

I eat the chicken fillet and always ask the people behind the counter to do the meat extra hot. They always do and I've never had a problem. My mw just told me to get the meat extra hot.

I just have them pop it in the microwave for 20 sec or so but I've always done that because I like my cheese melted.

My doctor said that as long as you're going to a trustworthy place (like a deli or chain) and not buying meat out of the back of some dude's truck or a street corner vendor, you're fine to have meat that isn't heated.

Wait, what? I've been eating at Subway more often now and never once got my sub toasted.. is that bad?

I'd been wondering this cos I LOVE their Italian sub.....yummy

Googled it and the American Pregnancy Association website https://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/listeria.html(no idea if that is reliable or not!!!) says

"Be cautious when eating hot dogs, luncheon meats, or deli meats unless they are properly reheated to steaming( or 160 degrees F.): Eating out at certain restaurants that provide deli meat sandwiches is not recommended for pregnant women since they do not reheat their deli meats. Restaurants such as Subway recommends that pregnant women eat the following non-luncheon meat items such as meatball, steak and cheese, roasted chicken, and tuna (limit 2 servings a week)."

Which made me sad cos I don't like the ones they are saying are recommended by Subway. Guess like everything, it's only advice....I am very tempted

MMM Subway! Think I'll have this for dinner! :haha:

Subway is safe. I asked my doctor about them and she said needed to just stay away from the packaged meats due to all the nitrates in them. But she found it rubbish that people seem to think that deli meat from a place like subway is not ok because those meats are fresh.

I have been to 2 OB's so far this pregnancy - and they both said guidelines like these are just ridiculous..... eat it up

So there is no listeria risk with pre cooked meat?
