Holly does this - i just take it that i means shes enjoying her mummy milk!! Holly has never latched right but it doesnt hurt me and shes getting plenty of milk so HV said thats all tht matters!
My little girl makes clicky noises sometimes aswell and i know she is latched on properly coz it never hurts i think she just really sucks hard at times.
usually those noises do mean they aren't latched right. Is he latching with most of your areola in his mouth? Like pretty deep? I know that was a problem when my boys were younger just because they were so small so I had to relatch them a few times during a feed sometimes so I wouldn't end up sore..but as they got bigger they started latching better and it stopped
It does usually indicate a problem with the latch. If you imagine it should have quite a strong vacum so clicking (which is air) shouldnt occur. I'd break the latch (with your little finger in the corner of his mouth) then try get him to take a bit of a bigger mouth full. If it carries on he may just be smacking his lips a bit!!
I'm so glad I amuse you........I need my pit.....crazy feckin' neices and nephew's due here for birthday 'tea party' in the morning for OH's birthday....you have just reminded me that I have already had one too many....... x
