Welcome to my Pregnancy Journey! First a little bit about me....
DH and I were married October 29th, 2011... we decided to enjoy a bit of time together before beginning our journey into parenthood. So in May of 2012, shortly after the birth of our second nephew, we decided to start tying to conceive! I was over the moon, as I've waited years for this time in my life
It didn't take long for us to achieve our goal... in August 2012 (our 4th cycle trying) we got that coveted BFP!! I was shocked and excited! Only 3 weeks after moving into our new home (purchased specifically with children in mind) and we were on our way! It meant that I would be commuting for work during the pregnancy but I wouldn't need to look for a new job closer to home, as it would only be 6-8 months of commuting.
Our doctor visits were perfect... bloodwork, perfect... no problems.... then we had our NT scan at 12 weeks 5 days, and devastation.... no heartbeat detected. The technician didn't tell me anything (I was alone in the room) but I knew something was wrong. She commented that the baby was smaller than expected and had to switch to an internal ultrasound. I never heard the heartbeat and I knew that was a concern at 12+ weeks. Later that evening our doctor called us to break the news. We saw an obstetrician a few days later and the next day we had a D&C. This all happened Monday-Friday. One week and our lives were destroyed.
6 weeks later we had a follow up. Nothing abnormal was found and the OB reassured us that it was unlikely to happen again. We began ttc again. A few months later (in May on mothers day weekend) things were looking up. We had another BFP! twice in less than a year! But again, our dream was short lived. Later that same day I began spotting. We visited our doctor and she informed us that it was far too early (This was the day before expected AF) to do anything to prevent it. It was at this time that she brought up the idea of a fertility specialist. DH and I decided to ride out the summer and seek help in the fall. We got an appointment with the specialist for early October.
Low and behold, in September (the 14th) we had another miracle! Our 3rd BFP in just over a year!! Extremely nervous we crossed our fingers. And in less than two weeks, I started spotting. We rushed to the doctor. The nurse gave us two hcg test requests and told us to see the doctor in a few days... unless we began red bleeding, then hospital. Luckily the spotting remained minor and we saw the doctor a few days later. HCG was rising so straight to the early care clinic. A local fertility clinic that also treated threatened miscarriages. Our first scan (6w3d) showed a baby & yolk sac measuring 5w6d and a heartbeat!! 126bpm!! A blood test showed low progesterone and hence the cause of spotting. We have since been on progesterone suppositories and had scans at 8 & 10 weeks. Everything is wonderful!! Baby measured 8w6d with a HB of 167 and 11w3d with a HB of 165 at the scans... our due date has changed accordingly and next wednesday we have our final scan with the early care clinic!! Baby is very active and perfect
And so the journey continues.....
