I am exclusively pumping and I've noticed my supply dipping in the past week or so...anyone have this happen and any ideas why/how to fix it? It's not a strong dip but enough to notice.

Around 6 months, your production method changes. Your begin to make milk more on demand than as a rule. This may be the reason your supply is changing when you pump. I am not really sure what to advise. Maybe Lisa can help you more. Sorry hun.

Well done on exclusively pumping for so long. I know dips in production can be caused by lots of things, are you particularly stressed at the moment?

I find the following guide is very good:
https://www.hollister.com/us/files/pdfs/breastfeeding/establish_milk_supply.pdf
There is a section on how to boost supply if it starts to tip, I found it really helpful when I needed to increase supply.

Hope this helps.

I'm exclussively pumping too. Once my milk supply was well established I pumped 7 times per day, including once in the night around 3am. I was getting around 1500ml per day. At 12 weeks I cut out the 3am session and went down to 6 pumps during the day and my production dropped to around 1200ml. At 15 weeks I dropped down to 5 pumps which is what I'm doing now and I get around 900ml per day which I'm happy with as I have huge stash in the freezer from the days of mega over production!

So I would think if I wanted to get back to "good" old days, I'd go back to expressing in the night, and pumping 7/8 times per day.

If you haven't changed your routine at all and your supply has gone down then I think there is medication you can try (Domperidone?).

If you have reduced your number of sessions per day then you should be able to re-establish supply pretty easily by going back up again.

Good Luck! I really don't want to pump more than 5 times per day now so if I can maintain betwee 800 and 900 ml per day I'll be happy!!!
