Sure start maternity grant

My friend seems to think I will be entitked to the £500 grant, my earnings 2011-2012 were £15000 and she says that I would qualify can anyone shed some light on this for me please, I have recently become single and could really do with this help if Im entitled

I dont think you are entitled to this unless you are on certain benefits and if you have a child under 16 I dont think you can get it.
