This is kind of a silly thread. I have a baby puree recipe book that said to offer sweet potato as one of LOs first foods. So, I went to the grocery store and bought what I thought was sweet potato. But I cut into it and it's orange. Aren't yams orange? I thought sweet potatoes were white on the inside. The grocery store had the orange ones labeled as sweet potatoes. Anyway, my actual question is: are yams ok to feed to babies as one of their first foods? I don't see it on any allergy list - it's a starch, I imagine it would be fine, but just wanted to see if anybody had heard otherwise.
