My 7 month old DS is breastfed and refuses a bottle or a cup. We've tried loads of things for months now but he won't have anything. He won't even drink water from a cup.

I've left him with grandparents for 4 hours before, and he's managed fine especially now he has solids but I'm due to leave him for 7 or 8 hours and that seems to long without a drink. I'm wondering if it's worth trying syringing in tiny bits of water or milk with a medicine syringe? He swallows medicine this way when he's poorly. But medicine is obviously more gloopy so water/milk might shoot straight to back of throat more and causing gagging? But it might keep him hydrated and maybe could be a step towards the cup somehow?

Is this a really bad idea or worth a try? Anyone done this?

Do u use a dummy?

My lo refused a bottle but since we've started using a dummy he's getting a lot better! Might be worth a try

He's had a dummy since a newborn. He took the bottle at first, we introduced it at about 8 weeks as I'd known so many bf mums who's babies wouldn't take a bottle, he wasn't over enthusiastic but he took it abit. Then at about 3/4 months he totally refused it and won't touch it now.

How about a breast milk popsicle? I recently bought these molds and my LO really enjoys them. I've only used fruit and veg in them but I bet breast milk would work great.

A cup might work well too!

If you are going to try a syringe.

A neurofen syringe is best

Either duck face baby qhich it will hate by squeezing iys cheeks together

Or

Get the syringe in the cheek by where the molars should be but in the cheek pocket and squirt about a ml a time without taking the syringe out til its empty
