the title says it all really.
any mummies out there with t1 diabetes? if so when were you are you being induced i know policy now isnt to go over 38 weeks but just interested in finding out other peoples stories and were you allowed a vaginal delivery? been told because i will probably be induced if baby doesn't decide to come early i will most likely have a c-sec

This might/might not help! My mum is T1 diabetic and was induced at 37 weeks with me and my sister. This was 30 years ago though. She had vaginal delivery with both of us. Just ask your mw or consultant when you next see them to be sure x

Over here, depending on your NST's and BPP's it can be anywhere from 37-40 weeks, but they definitely don't let you go past your due date.

hi im ty1 diabetic and i had my son kaiden now 4yo vaginally with out any complications i was induced at 38 wks, i montiered regually with him and he was 7lbs 11 oz when born even tho they said he wud be a big baby over 10lbs, i was taken in to have him on the wednesday straight on to deiverly floor was aloowed to walk about the hospital grounds during the induction stages just had to pop back every so often to make sure everything was ok, then finally at about 12am the thursday morning things got moving, had my waters broke at around 1am and at about 6am i had an epidural which was ok, had him the thursday afternoon and stayed in until the saturday and came home with out any problems, im now currently 11+2 with my 3rd and hoping to do the same with this one, during my pregnancy they never meationed a c-section at all,

i'm nearly 35 weeks and am being seen once a week now which will determine when I get induced. I think the general aim is for 38 weeks unless the baby gets disterssed or your blood sugars go haywire. Apparently Low blood sugars can be a sign that the placenta is starting to fail, I didnt know that the placenta can fail sooner with diabetics untill this week.

Last pregnancy I was induced at 38 weeks at 08:00am, waters broke about 3 hours later and I delivered 12,5 hours after the induction started. I was lucky to have a vaginal delivery though simply because most people in South Africa have C-sections and classed as high risk I was expecting one. My baby weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces which while slightly large was not that huge for my size.

I was on a drip the entire labour and not allowed to eat at all because they suspected I would be sent for a C-section. I was allowed to walk around and I did eat ice chips though they did not want me to. They put insulin into the drip and my DH monitored my sugars for me - I did spend quite a bit of labour with slightly low sugars. I only got an epidural when I was 7cm dilated. My DD was taken to ICU for a hematoma on her head caused by the vacuum they used and they sorted out her sugar levels there (they went as low as 1.2 I believe) SHe was only in ICU one night though.

While I am keen to go into labour myself this time it would have to be between 37 and 38 weeks to prevent a C-section. They told me if baby was smaller or the same size as last time then I could be induced else it would be a C-section.

They checked my placenta by routing ultrasouns late in pregnancy and said at about 36 weeks that it was starting to calcify - not sure when that normally happens, but I did still make it to 38 weeks.
