I'm confused about childcare costs, If you're claiming tax credits, and your LO goes to nursery, they might pay a percentage of nursery right?

But is there a way to find out HOW much they'll pay? Because depending on if/how much they'll pay, depends on if he'll be going to nursery, if that makes sense?

I'm a SAHM, but want to go to college at some point and start thinking about what i want to do when they go to school, but can't really afford to put two LO's into nursery!

If you call them and ask them to go through a 'mock' claim, they can tell you...thats what we had to do..the maximum you can get is 70% towards your childcare.xx

Brilliant thanks :) Does the percentage depend on how many days they go? Or say if I said he was going one day a week, Say for instance they said we could get 10% towards it, would it still be 10% if he was to go 5 days?

You can only claim help with childcare costs from the tax credits if you are working 16+ hours a week.

You could ask the college if they help with childcare. I think a lot of them do.

It's a joint claim

You both need to be working 16 hours + hun...not sure how it works with college.xx

College will help if your in full time education usually and your OH works... Worth doing a mock with tax creds and asking your college,I know a few people who have their childcare paid directly from their college to the nursery my LO goes too

talk to the college they should pay the lot unless its too expensive but it will need to be a private nursery the child is put into and you will only get the time your at college.... because your on taz credits and benefits then you would likely stay on them and attend college and get a fee waver as it works out better and you can still get childcare costs hope this makes sense?

above message might be void if your living with your partner.

Yeh, we're living together so the claim has a household income, does that mean I still need to be at work? Just thought if we could get a little help with childcare (doubt it) that I could do the course I want to do before they get their 15 hour entitlement at 3 and can (hopefully) be starting a Job as they start school rather than just starting the course, suppose there's always late night courses :)

Nope dont think you can get childcare help unless your both working or in full time education sorry :/

i would talk to the college you are thinking of going to sometimes its a college to college thing.
