Basically I started work in July of 24hrs per week.
This was then cut at the start of Sept to 16hrs per week.
Now I have been told it is to be cut with immediate effect to 7.5hrs a week!
I expressed my concerns to the manager that I will no longer be eligible for working tax credits and this will mean a MASSIVE reduction in my income (tax credits almost works out the same as my wage). She said not to worry because my hours will go back up to 24 per week sometime in the new year and that for tax credit purposes they will average it out and it will be more than 16 per week on average.
So I just called the tax credit helpline to check and they said NO, they only do that if you are on seasonal/temporary work with breaks in the work as I am permanently employed week to week with no breaks then those weeks where I am doing under 16hrs I WILL lose my WTC!
I don't know what to do!
I need to tell my manager her information was incorrect and I don't know where to go from here.
