Ok so last year we earned about 15k between us and so that's the figure we gave to hmrc when we put in the claim for tax credits.

This year OH has got a new job which pays more, and we didn't know that you had to call them to tell them of this blush so when we put in our claim for next year, will we have to pay some of this year's money back?

Also when do you put in the application for the next year, does it happen automatically?

In less you have earnt more than £10000 more then you wont have to pay any back from this passed year. but in less you phone them asap then you will owe them for any over payments you will get from now till when the renewal form comes out which can be up till july. So call them asap with a estimate. Over estimate to them as its better for them to owe you a bit than the other way round x
