Now I'm probably worrying over nothing as have checked and double checked the figures they have used and all are correct. However am surprised, I called them and informed of change in circumstances as I now work 16 hours a week so 11400 raise in income per year. I thought we would lose all tax credits as joint income now a bit over 46k! However we have lost just 15 pounds a month and get just under 130 in child tax credits? This seems alot to me but all figures correct. Does this sound right?
Eta we have 3 children

We have a family income of 44000 and are not eligible for tax credits. We have 1 child though.

Think 3 makes a difference. ... just thoight we would lose more than £15 a month for the increase in income. Not complaining though. Happy days.. :)

We get nothing with two children and a combined income of £32k before tax. Nice to know that the system pays out based on kids and not earnings!

You would be entitled to childcare element of tax credits, quite a lot actually.

We had a letter last week saying we aren't entitled to anything. I pay childcare through the childcare vouchers and I had a thing from work about how it might be better to claim tax credits. 30mins on the phone and then we got a letter saying we are awarded.... £0.

We have a joint income higher than £32,000 (2 kids) and get a fair amount of childcare tax credits, I've never used the vouchers, I would definitely enquire again, have you looked at the HMRC tax credits calculator?

We had last year joint income of 28k and iwth 2 kids in childcare @ £85 a day 5 days a week we get £931.

Next year, had I not been made redundant and we had an income of 38k we would have gotten £500 towards childcare.

Why I am wondering if it is worth getting a job as we wouls still be worse off :(

I did and it said we would get some but the letter came saying no. Maybe I should call them again and ask. Thank you.

You can't claim tax credits and use the vouchers do this is probably why you don't get anything. Coz the vouchers are tax free earnings they don't take them into account.
We also get no tax credits despite having a childcare bill of £164 a month and a combined income of 32K - hopefully when my 2nd is born in August we will qualify for something!
