Finally convinced my oh to do his tax return.. He's only had nearly a year and the deadline is eom so yeah.. Anyway.. In tax yr 12-13 he had a little savings account. He is currently unemployed so doesn't pay any tax (hmrc have been asking for this every ur from when he was s/e about 5-6 years ago, after he was s/e he was on paye so has literally been declaring 0 for the past 4-5 years.. Been saying we don't need one anymore but hey you know what hmrc are like and once they ask for it that's it!) anyway so this savings acc ha seen paying interest gross.. My oh doesn't think he has to declare it whereas I think you do. Does anyone know?

You have to declare all income on your tax return!

Put it on. And if he's under the threshold his tax bill will still be zero.

It's not a complete return or calculation without it.

It's what I thought, he will b well under as he never put loads into that savings acc. Always safe then sorry, now to convince him to ring Barclays and ask for 12-13 figures.......
