How many of you breastfed at night and co-slept and your LO still don't have any cavity?

My 12 months old LO doesn't have any yet but her dentist says her teeth have dark spots which means it is about to form. She told me to wipe her teeth at night. LO and my ODS both had their teeth since four months so they had longer exposure to food and milk. I tried to brush her teeth more frequently than my son so she doesn't needfilling or worst teeth pulled out like my son at a young age. He had abesses ...the filling couldn't save his teeth.

I don't think I can save her teeth:( I may have to wean her from night feeding but doubt it can undo what it has been done.)

I've read that breast milk isn't harmful to teeth, could it be her diet or does she drink juice at all? Does she let you brush her teeth? X

Interesting and helpful info on breastfeeding and tooth decay from kellymom here

Are you in the uk?
What level of fluoride are you using? If you brush twice a day there should be any brown spot lesions if you use 1000 ppm fluoride.

I am in the U.S. and I brush her after she eats her meal (three times a day) and trying now to wipe her mouth with wet gauze after nursing at night. We have city water and fluoride is added .I usually give her sip of water after eating. I have been to avoiding sugar in her diet .I make her own food and I don't give her any juice.

Her antibodies for her ear infection could have made it worst as I noticed her teeth gotten slightly darker since being on it.

She seem to have lip tie too so I wonder about that too.

The toothpaste should have no less 1000 ppm. I am surprised caries has kicked in so quickly, unless there is a predisposition I am surprised at 12 mths she has lesions ( she can't have had get teeth very long?)
Ask your dentist for fluoride varnish or the possibility of fluoride drops for her milk ( not sure what protocol in us is, drops used to be common place but now they are not due to fluorosis).
Either way action needs to be taken urgently. Good luck. Xx

She had her front top teeth since 6 months old. Her first set was at 4 months. Same thing happened with my son. I will ask about fluoride. Thanks

Some kids have bad enamil I had cavities by the time I was 2 and even with flourish and brushing I got cavities every time I went to the dentist. I have soft enamil and my son has the same , I had his teeth coated by the dentist after he had to have his first 2 cavities filled. It's a kind of plastic like substance they cover the teeth with to protect them and it works well

Just to let you know, her bottom teeth is not affected. Just her top teeth. I can see why they blame nightfeeding (why the top and not the bottom?)
