Just a 'quick' (as quick as possible) background story....
My husband was in the army for 10 years, came out because he got made redundant (due to medical reasons) and got no compensation or anything like that (I add that cause people tend to think he would've come out with a massive lump sum - we got nothing!!!)
He got out in October 2012 and we've been struggling on benefits ever since!
Recently the jobcentre has put him on this work program, where he goes to see a company called A4E which helps people back into work (so they basically do the job the jobcentre should be doing ) and they told him to go to a few agencies and sign up with them. So hubby went and signed up with a few agencies on wednesday. Thursday he had an induction from one of the agencies and got a call thursday night to see if he could start working for the council (collecting bins) on friday. So ofcourse he did, cause he was desperate to get back into work!
So he's worked friday, yesterday and is working for them again today. But they seem to only tell him at the end of the day whether they want him back the next day! Yesterday the council didn't even tell him, he had to ring the agency to check and they told him that they wanted him to come in again today.
Now, our problem is.... if we don't know how long he's gonna be getting work for, that means we can't sign off JSA and change all our other benefits (child tax credits and housing benefit) cause we would need to know how many hours he works a week (on average) and how much he'd earn monthly.... so they can make a decision on how much money to give us to help us pay our rent etc.
Does anyone have any experience with this???
Not sure what to do! Hubby is gonna go see A4E (and the agency) after work to work something out but I was just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this! Cause obviously we don't wanna be claiming any benefits we're not entitled to.
