Tens?

Hi all,

I have given birth twice before, but not used TENS as with my first I wasn't keen and with my 2nd I spent most of my time in the car or in the bath! lol

I would like to know just how much pain relief they give and does it help with skeletal pain as well as muscular/contractions?

I'm still not sure which route to take with this baby - have a long way to go yet - but would like to know what people think of TENS. Also, do you hire? buy? if so how much?

I bought mine and I used it with both of them. It helped a lot, I think. It certainly gives you something to focus on and gives you some control over the situation. I think Boots rent them out if you didn't want to buy.

Hey, I was a complete sceptic but hired one any way for £20 as thought I wouldnt be losing much if didnt work.

Best.purchase.ever! I used G&A as well once in established labour but felt like I coped pretty well on this until 9/10cm and then really nothing helps the pain at that point except getting the baby out!!

I used one when I had my little boy and I would definitely recommend one, it ended up being the only pain relief I had. I brought mine but only because the thought of using one used by a stranger freaked me out

Loved mine it was good to have something to concentrate on and at least pushing the boost button during a contraction made me feel a bit like I was in control! Certainly the tens irritation in my back took my mind off the contractions from my belly!
I bought mine new on eBay for not much more than it would have been to rent one x

Are they still on there? I saw one in Lloyds pharmacy for not much money just before Eddy was born and then saw it had 'NOT FOR USE IN LABOUR' plastered all over it. By the time I got home I had forgotten to research it

I tried it but i didnt like it at all i dont think it did much for the pain at all so after a couple of trys i gave up and didnt use it during active labour! I much preferred my husband rubbing my back!

I hired a tens online with my son. I didn't know beforehand if it would help but it really did, gave me a focus and got me through the early stages. Nothing but epidural would of helped me for the latter stages but defo worth hiring one.

I was a bit skeptical but was given one by the hospital and thought it was really good for the early stages
