How far along are you?
The only culture I know of testing for is the Strep B test, but that shouldnt be until 36 weeks.. I assume this isnt your first appointment either? I would have asked, unless they didnt give you a pap smear at your first appointment.
Either way, the Strep B test is a test to make sure you do not have this "infection".. While it causes no harm to you, it can to the baby and means you will need to have an iv of antibiotics while in labour, if the test is positive.
A pap smear, just tests you for abnormal cervical cells.
