Which is ok if your baby feeds like clockwork - what do you do if they wake up early and demand feeding?

Jess doesn't give us alot of warning and it takes the water half an hour too cool down which is too long

what do you all do ?

I make up bottles in advance.

The HV told me what the recommendations were and that each bottle should be made as required but I said "oh" (even though i knew thats what it says on the tin) " i make them a 3 or 4 in advance and sore in the fridge". Then said she could only tell me the recommendations but said it's not realistic to expect a baby to wait 40 or so minutes on us making the milk which kinda said i was doing ok but i guess if you notice the baby getting upset tummy then this aint the way to go.

I make them up in the morning, store them in the body of the fridge (not the door) and heat up in a cup of boiled water when he demands it. Like you we get little warning that he wants feeding so found this to be the best way for us.

Good luck x

The milk I use has to be stored in the fridge or it doesnt mix.
So once out the steriliser they are put in fridge.
When she wakes for a feed I add powder and leave it in boiling water while I change her.

mine are all in the fridge.

tried to make up in advance but to be honest its ridiculous! asked the HV and she said its all to do with a gastroenteritus scare where people were not sterilising properly.

scrub scrub scrub your bottles!

I boil the water, pop it into the bottle, put the bottle without the cap on into a bowl of cold water for 2 mins, then add the formula then pop the cap on, shake, then run under cold water. Pop the teat on and its all done in about 5 mins. Or if LO is really crying I give "an emergency" carton of milk.

thats a great idea.. never thought of that

I make about 5 or 6 at a time, and store them in the fridge then use a bottle warmer.
My HV also told me the new guidlines, she said she has to tell us them but if we choose not to do this is our choice! I think its far too much hassle to do all this with a crying hungry baby!

I never follow the rules, and I make up the feeds at room temperature. BUT we found that if you make it up with boiling water, put it in a bowl of cold water (ideally from a bottle in the fridge), and leave it in the fridge to cool, it will take about 5-10 mins to be cool enough for LO to drink. Obviously you still need to test the temp on your wrist or the back of your hand.

I make up mine 6 at a time and leave them at room temp untill needed. My baby has never been a regular feeded and gets really worked up if shes kept waiting for a bottle.

Never had any problems doing it like that!

I make them up in advance and leave them on the worktop for the day, never had a problem xx

What is the 2 hour rule? Ive been feeding her Aptamil for over 9months and dont know what it is!

I wash them all, Ive stopped sterilising them now, I boil the kettle and put hot water in them. Then leave them on the counter till needed, Then add the powder and pop in bottle warmer for a few mins till its warm.

I fill a sterilized bottle or 2 to the top with boiled water in the morning, let it cool. Then everytime i make a feed i use 3oz of boiling water, disslve the powder then add 3oz cold boiled water....to slightly above the 6oz mark (coz thats where the liquid would come once formula is added when you put ALL water in first) that way i have an instant bottle.....made according to rules ;-)

Im confused about the slightly over the 6oz mark??

kacey has 8oz bottles. I make up in advance. I put 5oz boiled water with 8 lots of powder and store in fridge. Then when she wants feed i add 3 oz of boiling water and its at perfect temp. Takes as long as a kettle takes to boil

I store boiled water in the bottles and leave them on countertops with lids on, i mix in formula when needed.
