Well due to a very rushed and messy emergency c section with my DD Eli was destined to enter this world by c-section.
On the morning of the 5th I was up at 5.30am to have my last supper and take a pill which was to help me with acid reflux, I can only imagine throwing up in theatre is rather unpleasant. I got my daughter ready for school and dropped her off then it was off to the hospital for 9.45 am bloods.
We arrived at the postnatal delivery suite at about 10am where I was given my super sexy gown and compression socks and we than sat on the cgt for a while to see how Eli was doing - that machine has always been batting practice to him and he went nuts
There was quite a bit of waiting from this point as we weren't scheduled into theatre until 2pm, but at 1.30 they collected me and the ball was rolling! We got into theatre and my partner got his scrubs on, I was so proud of him as he had been terrified of that theatre.
They had to try 4 times to get an iv in me as my veins were not cooperating but once we finally got the iv in things moved really fast, the spinal was put in which was not nearly as terrifying as I had imagined particularly because they give a small amount of local anesthetic first. The sensation of the spinal working was quite strange and it was like I could still feel but I couldn't.
The catheter went in and then it was all go, we heard when the waters went and finally our boy let out a huge cry of dissatisfaction about being pulled from my belly, his dad went to help clean him up, and cut his cord while I was stitched up.
He is perfect he has wanted to feed all night, and I managed to get out of bed about 9 hours after the operation, haven't peed yet but am dribking lots of fluids to get that going.
I will post pics of my beautiful boy when I can, right now I'm just enjoying his sleep talking, and how beautiful he looks.
Thanks
